Fillmore County Journal - Lois O'Connell Obituary

Lois M. O’Connell, age 83, of Spring Valley, Minn., died Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Spring Valley Living where she resided.

Funeral mass for Lois M. O’Connell will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2018, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley, Minn., with Father Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Burial will be in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Simpson, Minn. Visitation will be held 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018, with a prayer service starting at 2:45 p.m. The visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Lois was born September 7, 1935, in Austin, Minn., to Dewey and Lydia (Meyer) Ringenberg. She attended and graduated from school in Rochester, Minn., and was united in marriage to Nicholas J. O’Connell on April 27, 1956, in Austin, Minn. In 1962, they moved to Spring Valley, Minn., where they started O’Connell Construction in 1969. Lois worked as the bookkeeper for the company for many years.  She enjoyed the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sporting events, playing pool, dancing, and playing cards with family and friends.

She is survived by her children; Jim (Vicky) O’Connell of Spring Valley, Jerry (Ronda) O’Connell of Naples, Fla., Dave (Laurie) O’Connell of Hudson, Wis., Dan “Joe” (Patty) O’Connell of Spring Valley, Lori (Alec) Stier of Grand Meadow, Bryan (Kathy) O’Connell of Spring Valley, Wayne (Brenda) O’Connell of Byron, and Lana (Dave) Blanchard of Spring Valley, 26 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two brothers, William (Mary) Ringenberg and Robert (Jeanine) Ringenberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Nicholas in April 1999, and a sister Connie Stokes.
