In the first half, the swarming Spring Grove defense limited the Knights to 17 shots while forcing 16 turnovers. At the end, Kingsland had attempted 19 shots from 3-point range and only 18 closer in. The Knights (3-9, 2-5 SEC) shot a good 3-point percentage (33%), but the Lions were even better (42%, 8 for 19) and unlike the home team, were also able to take the ball inside, mostly with the dribble (20 points). Grove amassed a 46-to-13 scoring advantage in the lane.
The Lions had nearly twice as many assists (13) as turnovers (7) while Kingsland finished with 26 lost possessions. Jaxon Strinmoen was the third Lion scoring in double figures with 12 points plus a team-high 4 assists along with 5 rebounds. Grinde was great near the glass with a game-high 8 rebounds. Jacob Olerud contributed 8 points, 3 steals and 3 assists with no turnovers.
The Knights scored first, but it was 11-2 before they scored again. The Lions led 31-14 at halftime on the way to a 10th straight win in the series with Kingsland.
The Lion B-team (9-2) lost for only the second time this season as the Knights won an exciting contest, 44-41. It was a junior high split with Kingsland taking the eighth grade game, 43-12, while the Spring Grove seventh graders prevailed, 25-20.
