Leahy (MVP), a 5-foot-6 junior guard who received Honorable Mention on the All-Southeast Conference Team, was the Lions leading scorer at 11.4 points per game. Her dribble penetrations led to a team-high number of free throw attempts, and she cashed in with a team-best 63% free throw percentage. Leahy earned her third varsity letter during her second season as a starter.
Olerud (Attitude), a 5-5 junior, was a reserve guard who earned more playing time as the season progressed. She was a perimeter scoring threat while sinking 3 of 10 shots from 3-point range, a team-high 30% accuracy.
Ingvalson (Most Improved) was rewarded for her progress while assuming the critical point guard position as a 5-6 eighth grader. She was also a leader on defense with a team-high 2.8 steals per game. Despite her youth, Ingvalson is already a two-year letter winner after playing in 24 of 27 games the previous season as a seventh grader.
Kraus (Hustle) was recognized for her effort in the heavy traffic beneath the backboards, where the 5-10 freshman led Spring Grove rebounding with 7.2 caroms per contest and shot a team-best 30% from the field. She merited a starting role as a freshman in 2021 after lettering as a 2020 eighth grader.
STUDENT ATHLETES
Four Lions were Academic All-Conference, a recognition for letter winners earning a GPA of at least 3.4 during the academic quarter of the basketball season. Those student athletes were juniors Lydia Solum, McKenzie Fisch and Ava Olerud as well as freshman Katelyn Kraus.
LETTER WINNERS
While Leahy received her third varsity letter, second-year letter winners were McHugh, Ingvalson, Kraus and Solum. Earning their first letters were Olerud, Fisch, senior Erika Donlan and eighth grader Sydney Holland. Eight of the nine letter winners retain eligibility for next season.
