LaDonna Nash obituary, Fillmore County Journal

LaDonna Marie (Patzner) Nash, 89, of Wykoff, Minn., passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Chosen Valley Care Center, surrounded by her family.

LaDonna was born on February 27, 1936, to Edward and Bernadine (Mimetz) Patzner and raised on the family farm near Dodge, Wis., along with her nine siblings.  She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1954, then attended the Rochester School of Vocational Nursing at Saint Marys Hospital, where she received her LPN degree in September 1955.  She met her future husband, Donald E. Nash, at the Pla-Mor Ballroom in Rochester, Minn., and they were married on April 7, 1956, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rochester. Together they raised nine children and celebrated 51 years of marriage before Donald passed away in October 2007.

In October 1956, the couple began farming north of Fountain before purchasing their farm east of Wykoff in 1961, along with the original Nash family farm in 1977. They received Century Farm recognition in 1998. Following Donald’s passing in 2007, LaDonna continued to farm with her sons, Tod and Ted.

A devoted wife, mother and homemaker, LaDonna enjoyed cooking, baking and canning – no one ever left hungry from her table. She had a green thumb when it came to gardening, and her large flower garden was a joy to see.  LaDonna was a proud mom, grandma and great-grandma, attending many school and sporting activities through the years. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was an excellent listener.

LaDonna was a member of St. Kilian and St. Ignatius Ladies Altar Societies and past member of the Wykoff Garden Club.

LaDonna is survived by her children: Gene Nash, Gregory (Kathy) Nash, Jerry (Susan) Nash, Curtis (Polly) Nash, Kim (Jim) Kaster, Tammy (Jeff) Kappers, Tod Nash and Ted Nash; grandchildren: DeYanna (Chris) Ostroushko, Jennifer (Chris) Thesing, Stephanie Nash, Jacob Nash, Adam Nash, Jadon Nash, Brenda (James) Eickhoff, Aaron Nash, Michelle (Ed) Copeman, Carmen Nash, Rebecca Nash, Laura Kaster, Matthew Kaster, Jessica (Tom) Lewis, Andrew Kappers and Caitlin (Isaac) Schreiber; 22 great-grandchildren.  siblings: Edward (DeLaine) Patzner, Marilyn Hoesley, William Patzner, Rodney (Karen) Patzner, Dianne Guesman, Barbara Patzner and Thomas (Marge) Patzner; sisters-in-law Judy Patzner and Gloria (Nash) Engle, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, daughter Deborah (Nash) Sedaghat, son-in-law Vahid Sedaghat, sister Virginia (Patzner) Jackson, brother John Patzner, brothers-in-law Robert Hoesley, Richard Guesman, Clayton Tammel, Clarence Nash, Floyd Whipple, Maynard Root and Harvey Nash; sisters-in-laws Frances (Nash) Tammel, Coleen (Dildine) Nash, Dolores (Nash) Theimann, Florene (Nash) Whipple, Phyllis (Nash) Root and Marilyn (Emanuel) Nash.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley, with Fr. Gregory Parrott officiating.  A visitation will be held an hour prior at the church from 10-11 a.m. Following the service, burial will be held in St. Kilian’s Catholic Cemetery in Wykoff, Minn.

Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley is assisting the family. Online condolences and memories for LaDonna may be left at www.hindtfuneralhomes.com.
