Funeral service for Kathleen F. Roberts will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley, with Rev Mark Woodward officiating. Burial will be in the Wykoff Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, from 5-7 p.m., also at the church and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. For those unable to attend the church service, the funeral will be live streamed at the Hindt Funeral Home Facebook site.
Kathleen Fae Roberts, age 96, of Spring Valley, Minn., died December 25, 2025, at Spring Valley Living. She was born October 14, 1929, in rural Spring Valley to Alton and Vera (Wissing) Heusinkveld. She attended the Stone School through the eighth grade and graduated from Wykoff High School in 1948. On December 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard J. Roberts at the Greenleafton Reformed Church. Kathleen worked for a short time at the First National Bank in Spring Valley and helped alongside her husband on the farm. She was a member of The United Methodist Church and the UMW, often helping with the chicken pie supper, she was also a member of the Homemakers Club and was active in 4-H serving as a 4-H leader over the years. Kathleen enjoyed going on their fruit trips to Michigan and she truly enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities and was a strong influence on her granddaughters, teaching them many life lessons. She was very devoted to family and enjoyed attending the Wissing cousins lunches. Kathleen also enjoyed quilting, working in her gardens growing flowers and vegetables, canning, and doing crafts.
She is survived by her children Dave (Mary) Roberts of Wykoff, Nancy (Tom) Cummings of Chanhassen, Minn., and James of Owatonna, Minn., three grandchildren: Kristin, Kathleen and Ryan; two great-grandchildren: Samuel and Jack Cummings; and a sister, Faithe Timmer of Pella, Iowa. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, and two brothers, Arlo and Ell Heusinkveld.
