Karen J. Bennerotte, age 58, died on Thursday, May 20, 2021, in Spring Valley, Minn.
Karen Jean Long was born October 24, 1962, daughter of Kenneth and Judith (Rathbun) Long in Spring Valley. She attended Spring Valley High School. Karen married Roger Tienter and the couple divorced. On April 25, 1981, she married Dave Lecy and to this union two children were born, Michael and Micky; they were later divorced. Karen was married to Brian Bennerotte; they later divorced. Karen was a simple person, who lived a private life. For the past 15 years she suffered from COPD.
Karen is survived by her son Michael (Michelle) Lecy and their children Brooke, Isabelle, Dakarai, and Amari; daughter Micky (Tony) Mincks and their son Greyson, father Kenneth Long, sisters Peggy (Mike) VandeWeerd Mensing and Debbie (Darnell Williams) West, nieces Caitlin (Ben) Provost and their children Nova and Lily and Miranda (Logan Frye) VandeWeerd and their children Vivian and Aleigha; nephews Brandon VandeWeerd and Joshua VandeWeerd, aunt Marcy McNiff, and uncles Ron Bornholdt and Wayne Reed.
She was preceded in death by her mother Judith Long, on September 6, 2015; paternal grandparents Melvin and Leota Long, maternal grandparents Erwin and Irene Rathbun, uncles Erwin Jr Rathbun, Willie Rathbun, and Jim Long; aunts Doris Long, Gloria Reed, Sherry Bornholdt, and Pauline Kinnear; and cousins Brad McNiff, Christine Schlee, and Angela Bornholdt.
Visitation for Karen will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Spring Valley Cemetery.
