Joan Raaen

June 18, 2024 by Fillmore County Journal

Joan Raaen obituary, Fillmore County Journal

Joan Raaen, age 73, passed away at home, the evening of June 6, 2024.  Her battle with cancer is now over and she is at rest.

Joan was born at home in Dodge, Wis., on April 8, 1951, to Earl and Helen Ziegler.  They moved to the Lanesboro area, where she spent most of her life.  She married Ronald Bush and worked as a nurse assistant until age 20.  They had four daughters and later divorced.  Joan then married Ken Raaen and they had a son.  Joan loved animals and enjoyed reading, Bible study, drawing, baking, gardening, crocheting and driving.  She would say, “Driving is the best freedom you will ever have.”

Survivors include Ken Raaen, her husband; Donald Ziegler, her brother; five children: Eve Allen, Marilyn Schmidt, Rhonda White, Joanne Webster and Aarick Raaen.

Joan has five grandchildren: Ian Allen, Kyla Schmidt, Trenton Schmidt, Anya White and Alicia Burd.

-My grandmother was a very special lady.  She was very kind to me my whole life and always made sure I knew that she was thinking of me and she missed me, since we’ve always lived far apart from each other and never got to see one another.  May her kind soul rest in peace, be pain free and happy for eternity.  She will be dearly missed by so many.  -Trenton.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Hoff Funeral Home of Lanesboro is assisting the family with arrangements. Please leave a memory or condolence for the family at www.hofffuneral.com
