Head Coach: Jason Carrier

Where We Left Off in 2023: The Hurricanes went 3-9 in the SEC and 5-13 overall. They fell to Hayfield 4-0 in the 1A Round of 16.

Seniors: Alex Walters (IF), Jordon Beeman (OF).

Juniors: Korey Frauenkron (IF/OF), Morgan Rohweder (IF/P), Carter Geiwitz (IF/OF/P), Zach Olson (OF), Dawson Pedretti (IF/P), Tristan Stinson (IF/OF/P), Hunter Moon (OF), Logan Olson (IF/P).

Outlook: Houston started last year 5-4, but finished with nine straight losses (five by one or two runs). The ‘Canes only graduated two key seniors. Included was All-SEC selection, top pitcher Conner Porter (P/1B > 32 1/3 IP, 2.38 ERA, 35 K, 13 BB). All-SEC HM Zach Olson (.393 average, seven 2B, 11 RBI, 18 R) is the top returnee. Logan Olson (.302 average, 8 RBI, 9 R) also hit above .300 while tossing the most innings a year ago (19 1/3) of the returning pitchers. Morgan Rohweder (.255 average, 13 RBI) and Alex Walters (12 R) are other full-time returnees. Jordan Beeman, Tristan Stinson, and Carter Geiwitz also got double-digit at bats. Rohweder is a second notable returning pitcher (18 IP). The ‘Canes have 24 guys out. Non-graduation departures took a toll. Austin Swenson (.314 average, 18 RB, 12 R) moved on to Southland. Arik Melbo (.302 average, 13 R) and Maddox Rodriguez (All-SEC in 2022) are not out. If last year’s team returned intact, the ‘Canes would have their top five hitters back.
