Fillmore County Journal - Fillmore County Sports

The volleyball season got started. Mabel-Canton, ranked #4 in Class A, went 5-0 and won the Floodwood Tourney, topping the 8th-ranked hosts in the finals 2-0. Senior Kinley Soiney had 62 kills hitting .505 in the 10 sets played (6.2 kills per set). New setter Gwen Rein had 99 assists. Fillmore Central, ranked #3 in Class A, topped AAA John Marshall 3-0. Caledonia, ranked #6 in Class AA, topped AAA Winona-Senior 3-0 and AA power Cannon Falls 3-1. Avery Augedahl compiled 67 assists in the two matches, Aubrie Klug 50 digs, Elsa Blum 30 kills. Ashlyn Reinhart had 13 kills, 13 digs, and 6 aces versus the Bombers. Chatfield, ranked #2 in Class AA, played a special Breakdown Side-Out Classic match with #3 in AA Southwest Christian, losing 3-1. Cora Bicknese had 15 kills, 13 digs, and 5 aces. Lanesboro got 51 digs from Ellie Howard and a near triple-double from Jensyn Storhoff (10 kills, 15 assists, 9 digs), but Grand Meadow posted a notable 3-1 early-season SEC win. Hallie Hendrickson (36 assists) led the Larks, which had four girls with eight or more kills. Claire Sherburne had 4 kills, 36 assists, 9 digs, and 4 aces, Izabel Kaufmann 20 digs, as SG beat L/P 3-1. Torryn Schneider was 30 for 30 serving with seven aces and scored with 11 kills as R-P topped Medford 3-0. Siri Konkel had two assists and scored another goal as Caledonia/Spring Grove/Houston girls soccer topped Stewartville 3-0.
