LARP wrestling topped Dover-Eyota 38-27 in the 1A quarters to clinch its first trip to Rochester and the team semifinals in the Journal Sports era (since 2011). Section 1AA 6-seed Caledonia/Houston was tied with 3-seed Pine Island 27-27 before falling by fall at heavyweight to lose 33-27. Kinley Soiney scored 20 points and became Mabel-Canton’s all-time leading girls scorer as Spring Grove topped L-O 65-25. She surpassed Payton Danielson (1,580). Jensyn Storhoff scored 23 points and hit two free throws late to ice a 46-42 Lanesboro win over Decorah. Houston’s girls topped St. Charles 56-40 and Lanesboro 59-47 with Aubry Boldt, Jorja Meyer and Emily Botcher hitting double figures each game. SG (11-2, 19-5) is 1A’s 2-seed, will host 15-seed LeRoy-Ostrander (0-16, 1-24). Rushford-Peterson (9-5, 15-9) is the 4-seed, will host 13-seed L/P (8-17). Southland (16-7) is the 5-seed, will host 12-seed Kingsland (4-10, 5-17). Houston (9-5, 16-8) is the 6-seed, will host 11-seed Kenyon-Wanamingo (7-19). Amaya Harmening scored 21 points but Chatfield fell to PEM 64-53. Kingsland’s boys got 25 points from Max Erdman and 20 more from Parker Johnson in topping L//P 101-67. Erdman then scored 24 and Johnson 23 in a 71-65 win over Houston. Carter Geiwitz had 28 and Morgan Rohweder 21 in defeat. Rohweder hit seven threes and scored 35 as Houston beat Lanesboro 69-56. Ben Udstuen scored 28 and 20 points in Spring Grove wins over Mabel-Canton 72-44 and Lyle/Pacelli 59-38. Reid Hungerholt scored 20 points as L-O beat GM 62-47. Carter Glynn had 20 in defeat. For their season efforts, Caledonia/Spring Grove/Houston gymnasts Vivian Kittleson (all-around, floor, balance beam, bars), Harper Myrah (beam, floor), and Ayla Lange (beam) earned All-Section.
