Camden Hungerholt, a 6’1” junior G from LeRoy-Ostrander, scored his 1,000th career point in a loss to Lanesboro at home on January 25. This was not mentioned in last week’s sports. Hungerholt averages 23.9 PPG for the Cardinals. M-C’s Cayden Tollefsrud scored 24 points in a win over Grand Meadow, surpassing 2,000 for his career. He then scored 39 in a win over Houston, as the Cougars (7-7, 9-10) won their third straight. Caledonia’s boys, ranked #15 in AA, beat La Crosse-Central and Cotter to get to 15 wins. Five guys made double figures versus the Ramblers. Mason King had 23 points in the win over the Riverhawks. The Warriors (9-1, 15-4) trail La Crescent/Hokah (10-0, 14-5) in the TRC East. After beating FC (above), Spring Grove’s boys beat L-O and G-E handily. Jaxon Strinmoen had 25 versus the Wolverines. The SEC-East leading Lions (13-1, 16-1) are on a 10-game win streak. Jayden Brink scored 21 as Kingsland beat L/P. Kingsland then fell to #13 in A Southland 62-46 in a key SEC-West match-up. The Rebels (12-2, 15-3) expanded their divisional lead over the Knights (11-4, 13-4). Will Harvey scored 30 as Lanesboro beat GM and 21 in a Burro loss to Southland. The senior averaged 23 PPG over three Burros contests. Luke Hellickson scored 28 as FC beat Randolph 99-56! Carter Geiwitz scored 21 as Houston beat GM. Carson Harstad scored 22 but Chatfield fell to D-E.
Avery Kingsley scored 22 points as Houston’s girls beat L/P. Kinley Soiney scored 23 and Kylie Hammel 21 as SG’s girls beat L-O. The Lions (12-0, 18-3) lead the SEC-West over Houston (10-2, 13-8). Jensyn Storhoff scored 21 as Lanesboro beat Southland. Lauren Queensland scored 24 and Lexy Foster 20 as GM beat Osage. Foster (18.0) and Queensland (17.7) average 35.7 PPG combined.
Top-ranked Chatfield wrestling (7-0, 13-1) beat W-K and a solid LARP squad (6-2, 18-7) by 58-11 score to stay TRC unbeaten. The Gophers also won the WEM/JWP tourney with Javier Berg (114), Gage Bartels (133), Jack Dornack (145), and Ben Carrier (172) winning titles. LARP’s Christian Zibrowski won 107-pounds and FCLMC’s Kane Larson 160-pounds at the Pine Island Tourney. Larson (34-2), ranked #4 at 160, went 8-0 on the week.
