Harry Franklin McConnell, 88, of Spring Valley, Minn., died in his home on Monday, July 31, 2023.
Harry was born on August 24, 1934, to Lloyd and Fanny (Holets) McConnell. Harry married Rita Stein on May 11, 1963. They were later divorced. Together they had two sons, Gust and Scott.
Harry worked for the family business, McConnell Electric, aside his dad and then later with Gust and Scott. He had a great love for fishing with both his boys and with his friends as well. He and Scott would go on their annual memorial weekend fishing trip with the Lex boys for years, which was always a great time for Harry. The stories were endless with Harry. He had so much fun on all the day trips he would take with Pete, Leonard and Steve to the river. Not to mention all the stories about when he would go coon hunting with friends. You couldn’t drive past a patch of woods without getting a story from him about hunting with his dogs.
Harry is survived by his sons Gust and Scott, both of Spring Valley; five grandchildren: Melissa, Ashley, Kaden, Keisha and Shinead; 13 great-grandchildren, his sister Mildred Ptacek and tons of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janette, two brothers-in-law, one nephew, Gary Ptacek; daughters-in-law Tessa and Shelly, and former wife Rita McConnell.
A celebration of life will be held at Scott McConnell’s at 25619 795th Ave., Spring Valley, Minn. 55975 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2023.
