It has been an up and down year for Chatfield boys basketball. They started with just one win in ten games. The Gophers then won five straight. They then dropped four straight. Two of the ten losses to start the year were to Southland (90-87) and D-E (68-55). In TRC-West division re-matches, Chatfield got some “get back” wins. Jeff DeBuhr’s group won at the Rebels 74-68. The Gophers were 20 of 27 from the charity stripe. Reid Johnson (18 pts, 6-11 FGs, 4-5 FTs, 8 rebs, 5 stls), David Castleberg (14 pts, 6-6 FTs), and Cole Johnson (13 pts, 5-6 FTs, 6 rebs, 6 asts) hit double figures. Ben Fretland (9 pts) and Landon Bance (8 pts) combined for 17 points on 4 of 8 combined on threes. Chatfield then entertained Brady Williams led Dover-Eyota. The Gophers got a 64-56 win. R-Johnson (19 pts, 7-7 FTs, 9 rebs), Bance (17 pts, 4-7 threes, 6 rebs), and Fretland (11 pts, 3-7 threes, 5 rebs) got to double figures, combining for 9 of 19 threes. Williams had 26 for the Eagles. Chatfield improved to 6-8, 8-14.
