Gopher Softball Wins Four, Improves to 15-1

Chatfield (#4 in AA) softball ran its win streak to six with a four-win week.  The Gophers blanked PEM 5-0.  Claire Springer tossed her second complete game shut-out (7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 10 K, Win).  Alexis Hinckley (2-4, two 2B, 2 R) led the offense.  Sydney Allen (1-3, RBI, R), Devann Clemens (1-3, RBI), and Jaiden Zimmerman (1-3, 3B, RBI) helped.   Chatfield then took out La Crescent/Hokah 7-2.  The game was tied 2-2 after four, but the Gophers had a four-run fifth. Springer (2-3, 2B, 7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 12 K, Win) did double-duty.  Allen (3-4, RBI), Clemens (2-3, RBI, R), Hinckley (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, R), and Kara Goetzinger (2-4, 3B, R) added multiple hits.  Peyton Berg (1-4, HR, RBI, R) and Brynn Irish (1-3, 2B, RBI) helped.  It was Berg’s fourth home run.  Rochester-Lourdes then fell 8-1.  Chatfield had a five-run fifth to break open a 2-1 game.  Springer (1-4, 2 RBI, 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K) got the win.  She’s 13-1.  Hinckley (3-4, RBI, R), S-Allen (1-4, 2 RBI), Berg (2-3, 2B), and Clemens (2-3, RBI) helped on “O.”  Finally, the Gophers posted their only home win of the week, 16-8 over Blooming Prairie.  Chatfield trailed 3-2 after one, took the lead 5-3 after three, and coasted after a five-run fifth (led 10-4).  They scored in every inning.  Zimmerman (3-4, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R, 4 1/3 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, Win) and Berg (2-4, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 2/3 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K) did double-duty.  Goetzinger (3-4, 4 R), Irish (3-3, 2B, 2 RBI, R), Hinckley (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, R), Springer (1-2, 2B, 2 RBI, R), S-Allen (1-3, 2 RBI, R), and Clemens (1-4, RBI, R) added to the big offensive day.  Chatfield had five doubles.  The Gophers (10-1, 15-1) and St. Charles (11-1, 12-2) are atop the TRC-West.
