Golf: Trojan Boys, Warrior Girls Take R-P’s Tourney

At Rushford-Peterson’s in-season golf tournament, the Trojans handily were the top male team while Caledonia’s girls also took highest team honors. R-P (314) bested nearest foe Lanesboro (357) by 43 strokes with St. Charles (367), Lewiston-Altura (374), Dover-Eyota (374), Houston (392), and Caledonia (399) rounding out the teams. R-P had five of the top six golfers at their home course. Senior Jaxson Meldahl (38/38 > 76) was medalist. Brothers Sam LaFleur (39/39 > 78) and Will LaFleur (42/36 > 78) tied for second. Creighton Hoiness (40/41 > 81) and Gus Hoiland (40/42 > 82) took fifth and sixth. Only Lanesboro’s Jack Brogle kept R-P from the top four spots, as he took fourth (39/40 > 79). Three other Trojans, Carter Kopperud (8th > 84), Ryken Anderson (9th > 86), and Jace Dvorak (11th-tie > 87) finished in the top 15. Hoiness did not count for R-P’s six-man team. Caledonia’s girls (356) bested nearest foe St. Charles (409) by 53 strokes with Lanesboro (410), R-P (421), L-A (465), Houston (519), and an incomplete D-E team also competing. Burro freshman Addison McCabe (42/40 > 82) was this year’s medalist. But Caledonia had six girls in the top 10. Hayden Harms (43/40 > 83) took second, Maggie Herman (45/44 > 89) fourth, Jazzlyn Hauser (46/45 > 91) fifth, Emersyn Klug (49/44 > 93) sixth, Ellison Harms (50/44 > 94) seventh, and Alexis Sauer (51/45 > 96) ninth. Lanesboro’s Jentrey Schreiber (47/48 > 95) and R-P’s Adalyn Colbenson (49/48 > 97) took eighth and tenth places respectively. Burro Grace Tufte (12th > 104), Trojans Adalynn Hoel (14th > 106) and Addison Drinkall (15th > 107) made the top 15 (of 34 total golfers). R-P also beat Lanesboro for last year’s boys team title. The Warrior girls were team champs last year too. The event was held at the 18-hole, par-72 Ferndale Golf Course.

Dodge Invitational Boys Tourney (Kasson-Mantorville’s boys (325) topped St. Peter (327), Cannon Falls (350), Belle Plaine (355), Chatfield (360), Triton (362), Jackson County Central (379), and Lake City (446). Gopher junior Carson Harstad (36/41 > 77) tied for first with K-M’s Logan Johnson. Gopher Carter Ask (84) tied for ninth (of 48 total golfers).)

Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa Tourney (PIZM’s boys (295) topped Rochester-Lourdes (314), Stewartville (321), Byron (322), Lake City (336), Chatfield (357), and Caledonia (393). PIZM’s Jag Foster (37/33 > 70) and Logan Schurke (37/35 > 72) took first and second. Chatfield’s Carson Harstad (37/39 > 76) and Stewie’s Aric Cruz (41/35 > 76) tied for fifth (of 42). PIZM’s girls (343) topped Lourdes (350), CF (384), Byron (390), and Chatfield (412). PIZM’s Genavieve Knaup (43/40 > 83) took first while her teammates Cora Anderson (47/37 > 84) and Neva Anderson (45/39 > 84), Lourdes Lily Dehnavifar (45/39 > 73), tied for second. Chatfield’s Brynn Tweten (46/42 > 88) tied for sixth (of 29) with CF’s Rachel Laven (46/42 > 88), and Lourdes Allison Deutsch (43/45 > 88). At the 18-hole par-71 Pine Island GC.)
