Fillmore Central Falcons
Head Coach: Aaron Mensink (girls), Brad Holten (boys)
Where We Left Off in 2024: The Falcon girls won the TRC-East (9-0, 10-0) and the TRC Meet. Myleigh Scheevel (second), Aubrey Larson (fourth), Annika Mensink (fifth), Lily Miller (eighth), Ella Dahly (13th), and Maddie Topness (16th-tie) finished top 20 at the later. The Falcons then won their tenth straight 1A title, with champion Scheevel, Larson (second), Miller (sixth), Mensink (seventh), Topness (11th), and Dahly (18th) making the top 20. FC and Dawson-Boyd were the co-Class A state champions. Scheevel (third), Larson (11th), and Mensink (20th) finished top 20 at state. The boys (9-0, 10-0) also won the TRC-East and TRC Meet title. Aiden Arnold (second), Anthony Kiehne (third), and Brock Sikkink (7th-tie), and Josh Haugerud (11th-tie), and Brody Srsen (13th-tie) finished top 20. FC’s boys also won the 1A title, their second straight. Srsen (third), Sikkink (fifth) Arnold (sixth), Haugerud (10th), and Luke Hellickson (14th-tie) finished top 15. FC took fifth at state, Hellickson (22nd) and Arnold (33rd) posting the highest finishes. All-TRC gals Larson and Dahly, plus Hellickson graduated.
Outlook: FC’s teams each performed the trifecta last year; TRC regular season and tourney champs, 1A champs. Doing so again is not out of the question. The girls return four of six from a co-state-title team. Three gals are highly credentialled seniors in defending 1A individual champ and state third place finisher Myleigh Scheevel, Annika Mensink, and Lily Miller. Each finished top 10 at both the TRC and 1A Meets. Double top 20 finisher Maddie Topness (Jr.) is FC’s fourth returnee. All four finished top 11 at last year’s 1A Meet and made All-TRC. FC is again the section favorite, though spots five and six are open. The boys return five of their top six. Seniors Brock Sikkink, Josh Haugerud, and Aiden Arnold each are top 11 finishers at both the TRC and 1A Meets last year. Arnold was 1A meet runner-up. Returnees Anthony Kiehne (Sr.) and Brody Srsen (So.) add to the wealth. Arnold, Sikkink, Srsen, and Kiehne are returning All-TRC picks and have been on FC’s back-to-back state teams. Overall, with seven key seniors on the two teams, Falcon golf is as experienced as maybe ever.
Caledonia Warriors
Head Coach: Nathan Wurm (boys), Theresa Ellenz (girls – new)
Where We Left Off in 2024: The Warrior girls (6-2, 8-2) took second in the TRC-East behind FC, and third at the TRC Meet. Jazzlyn Hauser (7th), Maggie Herman (9th-tie), Hayden Harms (11th-tie), Alexis Sauer (16th-tie), and Ellison Harms (20th-tie) all finished top 20. The girls then made Day 2 of the 1AA meet, taking fifth (of 18). Hauser (13th-tie) and Harms (21st) finished top 25. The boys took fifth (of 11) at the TRC Meet with J.T. Hammell taking fourth. The guys then did not make Day 2 of the 1AA Meet. Hammell finished the highest (29th-tie).
Outlook: Caledonia’s girls were young and solid last year. They return their top six. Jazzlyn Hauser finished top 15 at the TRC and 1AA Meets. Hayden Harms finished top 15 at the first, top 25 at the second. Those two and Maggie Herman (sophomore) were each All-TRC last year. All are sophomores. Alexis Sauer (Fr.), Ellison Harms (Fr.), and Emersyn Klug (8th grader) also return. All six made the top 23 at the TRC Meet last year. The guys’ top returnee is TRC Meet fourth place finisher J.T. Hammell (Sr.), who made Day 2 of sections. Carson Klug (Sr.), Evan Milde (Jr.), and Dylan Schroeder (Sr.) are three more key returnees. Hammell and Klug were All-TRC.
Rushford-Peterson Trojans

Head Coach: Luke Rye
Where We Left Off in 2024: R-P’s boys went 4-4 in the TRC/overall. They took fourth (of 11) at the TRC Meet. Will LaFleur (16th-tie) and Jaxson Meldahl (20th-tie) finished top 20. The guys then took fourth at the 1A Meet (making Day 2). Sam LaFleur took eighth and qualified for state individually. Meldahl (12th-tie) and W-LaFleur (16th) finished top 20. The girls were incomplete and did not have a golfer in the top 25 of either the TRC or 1A Meets.
Outlook: R-P’s boys return their top six golfers. Top 20 TRC and 1A Meet finishers, returning All-TRC picks, juniors Will LaFleur and Jaxson Meldahl, plus frosh Sam LaFleur, a returning state entrant, are a good trio. Carter Kopperud (Jr.), Gus Hoiland (So.), and Kellen Drinkall (Fr.) are the three key returnees. The girls return juniors Adalynn Hoel and Audrey Frick as their only two golfers.
Chatfield Gophers
Head Coach: Paul Wagner
Where We Left Off in 2024: Chatfield’s boys (6-0, 8-0) won the TRC-West, took third at the TRC Meet. Colton Johnson (5th), Devin Reinhardt (7th-tie), Brayden Fretland (7th-tie), and Carson Harstad (13th) finished top 20 at the latter. The boys did not make Day 2 of the 1AA Meet. Harstad took 10th and missed state by one spot. The girls (6-2, 8-2) took second in the TRC-West, fourth (of 11) at the TRC Meet. Mya Henry (sixth) and Taylor Ask (11th-tie) finished top 20. The girls did not make Day 2 of sections. Henry finished 20th while Ask made Day 2. Six total All-TRC picks graduated in guys Johnson, Reinhardt, Fretland, and Gage Bartels, gals Ask and Charleigh Larson.
Outlook: Chatfield lost a lot to graduation, particularly the guys. They return only two of six TRC and 1AA Meet competitors. All-TRC pick and near state qualifier Carson Harstad (So.) is the top guy. He finished top 15 at the TRC and 1AA Meets last year. Carter Ask (So.) is also back. All-TRC pick Mya Henry is the top gal returnee. She finished top 20 at the 1A and TRC Meets. All-TRC selection Grace Copeman (Jr.) and Brynn Tweten (Fr.) are the girls’ other key returnees.
Lanesboro Burros
Head Coach: Tim Opat
Where We Left Off in 2024: Lanesboro’s girls (10-0, 10-0) won the SEC regular season title and SEC meet titles. League meet champion Ellie McCabe, runner-up Addison McCabe, Grace Tufte (fourth), and Jentrey Schreiber (sixth) each finished top 10. The Burros then took third at the 1A Meet. A-McCabe (fourth) and E-McCabe (fifth) finished top five and qualified for state while Tufte (17th) finished top 20. The boys (8-2, 8-2) took second to Southland in the regular season but won the SEC Meet. Jack Brogle was the champ with Kaden Stettler (third) and Dayton Haugen (7th-tie) finishing top 10. The boys took third at the 1A meet. Brogle was the champion and made state, taking 20th place. Stettler (12th-tie) also finished top 20 at sections. He was the only 2024 All-SEC pick to graduate.
Outlook: Burro golf should again be strong this year. On the girls’ side, five of six SEC and 1A meet golfers return. The state qualifying McCabe sisters, Ellie (Sr.) and Addison (8th grader), head the cast. They were the top two golfers at last year’s SEC Meet and finished top five at the 1A meet. Each made All-SEC. Sophomores Grace Tufte and Jentrey Schreiber are two more returning All-SEC selections while Rachel Rein (So.), Thea Arends (So.), and Taylor Hanson (Sr.) round out the returnees. On the guys’ side, SEC and 1A Meet champion, state 20th place finisher Jack Brogle (So.) had a huge freshman year and headlines the team. Dayton Haugen was also All-SEC last year while fellow seniors Grant Horihan, Holdyn Willford, and Kyle Ruen allow the Burros to return five of six.
Kingsland Knights
Head Coach: Paul Eckheart
Where We Left Off in 2024: Kingsland’s girls (8-2, 9-4) took second in the SEC and second at the SEC Meet. Ryley Guy (seventh) and Emily Sargent (eighth) finished top 10. The girls did not make Day 2 of the 1A Meet. Guy (11th) and Sargent (19th) finished top 20. The guys (0-10, 0-12) took sixth at the SEC Meet and did not make Day 2 of the 1A Meet. No guy finished top 15 at the SEC Meet, top 20 at the 1A Meet.
Outlook: Kingsland’s girls were solid last year, but have only one big returnee in All-SEC pick Emily Sargent (Jr.). She finished 8th at the SEC Meet, 19th at sections. The boys did not have an All-SEC pick. They return three from their SEC Meet squad in Kane Drury-DeBoer (So.), Jackson Aarsvold (Jr.), and Bryce Oeltjen (Fr.) But the Knight guys have an influx of new guys, 14 total out.
GMLO Bulldogs

Head Coach: Craig Knight
Where We Left Off in 2024: GMLO’s boys went 6-4 in the SEC/overall and took third at the SEC Meet. Lincoln Lunning (sixth) and Graham Eastlee (11th) finished top 15 at the latter. The girls (2-8 overall/SEC) were sometimes incomplete. They took fourth at the SEC Meet. Gabby Tangren notably took third. Neither team made Day 2 of sections. Lunning (10th place) just missed the state cut. Tangren took eighth and qualified for state.
Outlook: Sophomore Gabby Tangren (So.) is the headliner after making state as a freshman. She was GMLO’s only gal to make All-SEC. Paisley Kolling (So.) and Alyssa Peterson (Sr.) are two more 1A meet returnees. All-SEC pick Lincoln Lunning (Fr.) is the top guy returnee after finishing top 10 at the SEC and 1A Meets. Graham Eastlee (So.), Nathan Fretty (Sr.), and Teague Alden (Sr.) allow the Bulldogs to return four of six guys from the 1A meet last year.
Houston Hurricanes
Head Coach: Ryan Gatzlaff (girls), Kiel Koehler (boys).
Where We Left Off in 2024: Houston’s girls (4-6, 4-6) took fifth at the SEC Meet. Lexi Weichert took ninth. They took sixth at the 1A Meet. Weichert took 16th. The boys (2-8, 2-8) took fifth at the SEC Meet. Ethan Knutson tied for fourth. They did not make Day 2 of the 1A Meet. Knutson finished fourth and made state, but he graduated.
Outlook: Houston returns just one All-SEC golfer either boy or girls in Lexi Weichert (Sr.), a top 16 finisher from the SEC and 1A meets last year. Returnees Lilly Coil (So.), Julia Carr (Sr.), Emily Weichert (Sr.), and Amanda Cripps (Sr.) also competed at the SEC and 1A Meets. Houston graduated its top guy golfer in state entrant Ethan Knutson. The boys return no All-SEC picks, as three total competitors from the 1A Meet graduated. Treyton Kubitz (Jr.), Arlo Hunt (So.), and Elijah Hunt (So.) are the only post-season returnees.
