Fillmore Central’s girls had a strong week, posting three wins. Levi Olstad’s group first handled LeRoy-Ostrander by 63-29 final. Senior Kammry Broadwater (19 pts, 9-13 FGs, 10 rebs, 6 asts, 6 stls, 3 blks) had a huge game. Alyssa Britton (10 pts, 4-6 FGs) and Annika Mensink (9 pts) helped. The Cardinals were led by Benita Nolt (16 pts, 6-9 FTs, 11 rebs, 6 blks), who set the L-O career blocked shot record. FC (7-7) then took on Chatfield (9-7) at Mayo Civic Auditorium as part of the HVL/TRC shootout. Turnovers were the story, as the Falcons won that battle 21 to 29. FC also won second-chance-points 12 to 4. The Falcons took 70 shots to the Gophers 50, enabling a 63-51 victory. Chatfield took 31 threes, hitting eight (26%). Broadwater (18 pts, 11 rebs, 4 stls) and Brooklyn Simon (18 pts, 7 rebs) led FC. Jersey Ristau (10 pts, 4 rebs, 5 stls) and Mensink (9 pts, 5 rebs) helped. Grace Schroeder scored 16 points (4-6 threes) to lead the Gophers (4-5, 9-8). Taylor Ask (10 pts) and Evy Goldsmith (8 pts, 6 rebs) helped. The Falcons ended their week beating Lanesboro in a second straight boys/girls doubleheader. FC built a 29-13 halftime lead. The Burros then got as close as seven (32-25). Despite shooting 4 of 38 in the second half, the Falcon lead was not seriously in jeopardy. They prevailed 44-34. Broadwater double-doubled (12 pts, 11 rebs, 5 stls). Aubrey Daniels (9 pts, 4 rebs, 3 asts, 4 stls) had three first half threes. Kyla Hellickson went for 8 (pts) and 6 (rebs). Lanesboro was led by Taylor Hanson (10 pts, 5-6 FGs, 5 rebs) and Jensyn Storhoff (9 pts, 7 rebs, 7 asts). The Burros had 27 turnovers, FC 10. The Falcons (3-5, 9-7) have won five straight. Lanesboro is 5-3, 8-9.
