In a battle between the top two teams in the SEC-West over the past few years, Grand Meadow’s defense held Kingsland majorly in check in picking up a key SEC win in a league without divisions this year. Kingsland mustered some offense in the first half, though the Larks led 26-17 at intermission. But the Knights were held to nine second half points as GM picked up their best SEC win of the year, 46-26. The duo of Lexy Foster (17 pts, 14 rebs) and Lauren Queensland (16 pts, 17 rebs) out-matched Kingsland. Only Ryley Guy (11 pts, 6 rebs) scored more than three points for team double-K. Kingsland was held to 10 of 48 shooting (21%) including 2 of 21 from deep (10%). GM shot better from the field overall, 17 of 52 (33%), but the Larks were also bad from deep at 3 of 22 (14%). But GM grabbed 14 offensive rebounds to Kingsland’s three and dominated the board-battle total 47 to 23. The Knights (4-2, 6-2) had a four-game win streak snapped. GM improved to 3-3 in the SEC, 6-5 overall.
