Chatfield’s girls (5-6, 11-10) notched their best win of the year by upsetting rival #16 in AA Dover-Eyota (11-2, 18-4) on the road. Freshman Lexi Kivimagi hit a big three to give the Gophers a 52-46 lead with about 1:30 to play. The Eagles then pulled to within down two (52-50) with four straight points. D-E then had two cracks at it, missing one shot in the final 0:15 seconds, then getting the ball back via turnover, but not getting a shot off before the horn sounded. Kyle Tollefsrud’s group prevailed 52-50! Chatfield came back from down 27-20 at intermission and they trailed most of the game. Defense was a key catalyst in the win, as D-E shot just 25% (19 of 77). The Gophers gave up 28 offensive rebounds. Evy Goldsmith (22 pts, 9-15 FGs, 13 rebs, 4 asts) led the charge. Taylor Ask (9 pts, 4 asts) and Amaya Harmening (6 pts, 7 rebs) helped. Madi Mullikin (14 pts, 11 rebs) had a double-double to lead the Eagles. D-E (11-3, 18-5) is the TRC-West leader. Chatfield is 6-6, 12-10.
