Fillmore Central’s girls posted a couple wins the Week of Monday, January 8. In each game, their senior strandout led the way. Versus visiting Schaeffer Academy, Kammry Broadwater (22 pts, 9-13 FGs, 4-6 FTs, 9 rebs, 4 asts, 3 stls) led the Falcons to a 63-39 win. Classmate Alyssa Britton (14 pts, 6-9 FGs) was also efficient. Kyla Hellickson chipped in 14 (pts), 4 (rebs), and 4 (stls). The Falcons hit 14 of 16 free throws (88%). FC then snuck past TRC foe Lewiston-Altura 48-45 on the road. Broadwater (18 pts, 12 rebs, 4 asts, 3 stls) had a double-double to lead the way, her fifth of the year. She was the only Falcon in double-figures. Hellickson (7 pts, 4 stls), Annika Mensink (5 pts, 7 rebs), and Brooklyn Simon (5 pts, 5 rebs) were the best help. The Falcons trailed 24-21 at halftime, but came back to win courtesy of a 27-21 second half. The wins have FC creeping close to five-hundred (2-5 in the TRC, 6-7 overall) after a 3-6 start to the season. The Falcons have won three of four. Broadwater is averaging a standout all-around 16.5 points, 10.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 3.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game.
