Girls Basketball – 1A/1AA Playoffs (2/28 & 3/1)

(1AA Qtr) 8-seed Chatfield (19-8) 53, 1-seed #8 Goodhue (24-3) 80 (C: Kara Goetzinger 19 pts (8-12 FGs), 6 rebs; Jaiden Zimmerman 12 pts, 4 asts. G: E. Gadient 31 pts (11-18 FGs, 4-9 threes), 6 asts, 5 stls; Tori Miller 18 pts; Anika Schafer 13 pts. Goodhue led 18-14 midway through first half, then out-scored Chatfield 34-13 the rest of the stanza. Gadient scored 25 in the first half including 19 points the final six minutes. Wildcats hit 16 of 18 free throws (89%) and 28 of 53 field goals (53%))

(1AA Qtr) 7-seed Caledonia (17-10) 35, 2-seed Rochester-Lourdes (18-7) 52 (C: Paige Klug 13 pts (three threes); Ava Privet 8 pts. RL: Vivica Bretton 20 pts; C.J. Adamson 12 pts; Ella Hopkins 9 pts; Emily Bowron 9 pts. Warriors were held to their second lowest point-total of the season. The lowest was versus Lourdes in the regular season in a 65-33 loss)

(1A Qtr) 8-seed Houston (16-11) 29, 1-seed #3 Hayfield (28-0) 67 (Hou: Sydney Torgerson 8 pts, 10 rebs; Avery Kingsley 8 pts; Lilly Carr 6 pts, 6 rebs. Hay: N. Beaver 24 pts; K. Watson 19 pts. Vikings turned a 29-16 halftime lead into an easy win via a 38-13 second half. Hayfield hit seven threes while Houston was 1 of 13. Houston was twice held below 30 points this season, both times by the Vikings (59-28, 67-29). The game was a rematch of last year’s 1A semis, won by Houston 62-49)
