Final Three Rivers Conference standings saw Cotter (12-2, 24-6) and Caledonia (12-2, 20-9) share the TRC-East ahead of Rushford-Peterson (8-5, 21-8), Fillmore Central (7-6, 17-11), and La Crescent/Hokah (3-13, 6-21). Dover-Eyota (13-3, 22-7) won the West over PEM (11-4, 18-10), Chatfield (8-7, 15-13), Lewiston-Altura (5-11, 7-2), Wabasha-Kellogg (1-14, 3-24), and St. Charles (1-14, 2-24). With all four “Journal-covered” girls teams posting above five hundred records, each is represented on All-TRC list. Caledonia ties the Ramblers and Eagles for a league-best three picks. Scott Sorenson’s young group sees Josie Foster (5’11” Jr. G/F), Aubrie Klug (5’10” So. G), and Nicole Banse (5’8” So. G) honored. Foster and Klug were maybe the top scoring combination in the league. Foster averaged team-bests with 18.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.8 steals per game while also notching 3.1 assists per. She shot 46.5% overall and 70% from the line. Foster scored in double figures in every game but three (and she scored eight or nine in those contests). A streaky deep shooter, she hit 63 threes at a 35% clip, making five or more in a game five times. With six games of 25-plus points and three of 30-plus, Foster could fill it up as much as any other “Journal-covered” gal. She repeated as All-TRC after doing so last season essentially as the Warriors 6th person. Klug averaged team-second-bests with 17.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game while leading the team with 3.4 assists per. She hit a team-high 71 threes at a 35% clip, making four-plus in a game eight times. She also hit a stand-out 79 of 101 free throws (78%). Klug massively stepped up as a full-time starter, scoring in double figures in every game but two. Both Foster and Klug made All-State Class AA Honorable Mention. Banse averaged 9.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. A good driver and rebounding guard, she hit 71% of her free throws. Making All-TRC HM for Caledonia are Regan King (6’0” Sr. F > 5.4 PPG, 4.6 RPG), Sienna Augedahl (6’0” Jr. F), and Kensey King (5’11” So. F). Said group helped the Warriors to a share of the TRC-East title, a 1AA semifinals trip, and 20-win season. Rushford-Peterson gets two picks, seniors Ellie Ekern (5’6” guard) and Tayler Helgemoe (5’11” F/C). Ekern repeats as All-TRC while Helgemoe moved up from Honorable Mention. Ekern led the team by averaging 13.3 points, 2.9 assists, and 3.3 steals per game while chipping in 3.8 rebounds. She was efficient from both deep, hitting 40% of her threes (53 of 134), and from the line, where she shot 76% (79 of 104). The multi-year player finished with 1,078 total points, the 12th Lady Trojan to top 1,000. Helgemoe averaged 8.4 points and a team-best 6.8 rebounds per. Her length was a menace on defense, where she tallied 3.6 combined steals and blocks (1.9 SPG, 1.7 BPG). Up and coming sophomores Nadia Happel (5’6” G > 8.8 PPG) and Torryn Schneider (5’5” G > 7.7 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 2.1 SPG) made All-TRC HM. Said girls helped the Trojans to an excellent 21-8 year where they made the 1A semifinals under Coach Joe Hatch. Trojan stats are based off 28 of 29 games played. Fillmore Central’s lone selection is Kammry Broadwater. The senior earned her second All-TRC nod after an impressive season. She led her team in all five big statistical categories; scoring (16.5 per), rebounding (9.9 per), assists (3.5 per), steals (3.8 per), and blocks (1.8 per). Though a fifth-year varsity player, she could be the TRC’s “Most Improved.” Broadwater upped her scoring and rebounding significantly from her junior year (8.3 PPG, 6.0 RPG). The athletic senior scored in double figures in all but two games and racked up 13 double doubles while shooting 46%. She had eight five-plus assist and eight five-plus steal games. Broadwater finished with 1,178 career points, the eighth Lady Falcon to do so and she sits in third place behind Connor Nagle (1,700) and Morgan Malley (1,201). She is the final Broadwater sister of three, as siblings Kenzie and Kassidy were also All-TRC basketball players. Making All-TRC HM for the Falcons is Alyssa Britton (6’0” Sr. C > 7.6 PPG, 3.6 RPG). Broadwater and Britton helped FC to a good 17-11 season under Coach Levi Olstad. Chatfield gets two selections, seniors Evy Goldsmith (5’8” forward) and Taylor Ask (5’7” guard). Goldsmith led the team in scoring at 17.9 points per game, rebounding at 8.4 per, and steals at 2.2 per. The undersized forward had 10 double-doubles including five over her last seven games. Goldsmith averaged 23.1 PPG over her last 10 games. She also put forth the best individual game of any “Journal-covered” gal, her 41-point effort at Southland on 14 of 17 field goals, 5 of 5 threes, and 8 of 9 free throws. Goldsmith was All-TRC HM last season. Ask averaged a team third-best 9.0 points per game while hitting a team-high 49 threes. Earning All-TRC HM for the Gophers are Grace Schroeder (5’8” So. G > 9.3 PPG in 21 games), Lexi Kivimagi (5’7” Fr. G > 5.9 PPG, 2.4 APG), and Kylin Schroeder (5’10” Jr. F/G > 5.3 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 2.6 APG). Caledonia’s Foster is the Fillmore County Journal Girls Player of the Year. Klug and Broadwater were considered for the honor. Cotter’s Clarissa Sauer (5’9” Jr. F/C), Katleyn Ubl (5’7” Jr. G), and Abby Williams (5’6” So. G), D-E’s Miranda Palmby (6’0” Jr. F/C), Madi Mullikin (6’0” Jr. F/C), and Isabel Duellman (5’9” Jr. F), PEM’s Alyvia Engler (5’4” So. G) and Haylee Burton (5’10” Sr. F), La Crescent/Hokah’s Brooklyn Mitchell (5’11” So. F), and Lewiston-Altura’s Natalie Lubinski (Sr. F) round out the All-TRC list.
All-Southeast Conference
Spring Grove (15-1, 23-6) brought home the SEC league title while Houston (13-3, 16-11), Grand Meadow (12-4, 19-9), Kingsland (11-5, 16-9), Lanesboro (8-8, 11-16), Schaeffer Academy (5-11, 9-18), Southland (5-11, 8-18), LeRoy-Ostrander (3-13, 3-23), and Lyle/Pacelli (0-16, 2-26) rounded out the standings. Taylor Elton’s young championship Lions placed Kinley Soiney (5’10” So. G/F) and Siri Konkel (5’3” So. G) as 1st Team All-SEC and Emerson Ingvalson (5’7” Jr. G) as 2nd Team. In league play, third-year All-SEC Soiney had more assists than turnovers while leading SG with 18.1 points and 6.9 rebounds per game and 30 treys while shooting a team-second-best 31% from three-point range and 40% overall. Although only a sophomore, Soiney has already surpassed 1,100 career points. Point guard Konkel had an impressive 2.32 assist-to-turnover ratio plus other team highs with 4.9 assists and 3.8 steals per game while averaging 11.9 points. Ingvalson had a strong 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio while hitting 54% of her two-point shots and 44% overall while averaging 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds. Receiving All-SEC HM for the second straight season is Kylie Hammel (5’9” So. G/F > 9.6 PPG, 4.9 RPG). Second place Houston gets a 1st team All-SEC pick and a 2nd team pick. Lead guard Avery Kingsley (5’6” sophomore) makes the first team. Kingsley led Houston by averaging 17.2 points, 2.7 assists, and 3.1 steals per. She chipped in 4.1 rebounds. The young guard scored in double figures 23 times in 27 games while topping 20 points nine times. She made a team-best 53 threes at 41%, shot 47% overall from the field, and 76% (64 of 84) from the line. Kingsley was All-SEC HM last year. Making All SEC 2nd team was Aubry Boldt (5’11” G/F). The rangy sophomore averaged a team-second-best 14.4 points plus 4.5 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game. Boldt shot 48% from the field. She made a big step up after playing fleetingly on varsity as a frosh. Making All-SEC HM for Houston is Emily Botcher (5’10” Jr. F > 8.0 PPG, 4.8 RPG). For Grand Meadow, Lauren Queensland (5’10” junior F/G) and Lexy Foster (5’11” senior F/C) both make the All-SEC 1st team. It is Queensland’s third time on an All-SEC list and Foster’s second. Each repeats an All-SEC 1st team. The league’s top scoring duo, Queensland led the team with 18.3 points, 3.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game while adding 7.7 rebounds per. She scored in double figures in every game but two and hit a team-best 56 threes. Foster was second on the team with 17.3 points per game but led the squad with 9.5 rebounds per. Foster scored in double figures in every game but one and notched 13 double doubles. Both shot excellently from the free throw line, Queensland 77% (89 of 116), Foster 76% (64 of 84). Queensland made All-State Class A Honorable Mention and is the SEC Player of the Year. She was considered for the “Journal” Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Foster finished with 1,228 career points, one of 11 GM gals over 1,000. Queensland had over 1,200 heading to her senior year. Gracie Foster (5’5” So. G) made All-SEC 2nd team. She averaged 9.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assist per game while hitting 54 threes. Rylee Schaufler (5’10” Jr. F) made All-SEC HM for the Larks. Said girls helped GM to another quality season, 19-9. Balanced Kingsland gets a sole All-SEC pick; 1st team selection Katelyn Hauser (5’8” Sr. G). She was All-SEC 2nd team a year ago. Hauser led the Knights at 10.1 PPG and in threes made with 40 while adding 3.0 RPG. Making All-SEC HM for Kingsland is Morgan Phillips (5’6” Sr. G/F > 7.0 PPG, 3.7 RPG, team-best 2.9 SPG). The duo helped the Knights to a good 16-9 season. Lanesboro’s sole All-SEC pick is repeat 1st team selection Jensyn Storhoff (5’6” So. G). In her third year on varsity, she led the Burros in almost everything, points per game at 15.8, assists at 4.9 per, and steals at 5.1 per. She also chipped in 5.7 rebounds, making her the only “Journal-covered” player to go 15 (pts), 5 (rebs), and 5 (stls). Her high scoring game was 31, high rebound game was 12, high assist game was 12, and high steal game was 10. She had 13 games of five-plus assists and 16 games of five-plus steals. Storhoff topped 1,000 career points as just a sophomore, scoring in double figures in every game but three. Making All-SEC HM for the Burros is Taylor Hanson (5’10” Jr. F/C > 7.7 PPG, team-best 6.5 RPG). LeRoy-Ostrander’s sole All-SEC pick is Benita Nolt (5’10” Jr. C/F). She repeats as 2nd team. Nolt led the Cardinals in scoring at 15.9 per game and rebounding at 11.1 per plus in blocks with 2.7 per. She chipped 1.9 steals per contest to put up 4.6 steals and blocks per game. Nolt accomplished a lot individually, topping 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds while setting the L-O career block record (as just a junior). She scored in double figures every game but two (21 of 23 games played) and notched 17 double-doubles. She was the only “Journal-covered” player to average a double-double. Nolt also made 104 free throws (of 172 > 60%). Jenna Olson (5’5” senior G > 7.0 PPG, team-best 56 threes made) made All-SEC HM for the Cardinals. The entire All-SEC 1st Team is players from “Journal-covered” schools. Southland’s Breeley Galle (So. G), L/P’s Kirsten Koopal (Jr. G/F), and Schaeffer Academy’s Lily Morrisey (So. F) round out the other All-SEC 2nd team picks.
