Geraldine (Jeri) June O’Byrne, 85, of Wykoff, passed away on November 24, 2016 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where she resided for 1 ½ years.
Jeri was born on June 20, 1931 in the Village of Fillmore, Minn., the daughter of Glenn and Maxine (Manley) Winslow. She graduated from Wykoff, Class of 1949. She was united in marriage to Robert O’Byrne Jr. on June 5, 1949. She helped Bob with his construction company, was a homemaker raising her six children, an Avon Lady, and also sold Amish furniture. Jeri was active in the Fillmore Free Methodist Church, serving as Sunday School director, Youth Group leader, director of Bible School, Sunday School teacher and official board secretary. She influenced many children in their Christian walk with Christ.
She is survived by her six children: Michael (Beverly) O’Byrne of Wykoff, Christine (David) Voeltz of Wykoff, John (Elizabeth) O’Byrne of LeRoy, Michelle (Steve) Vrieze of Lanesboro, David (Kelli) O’Byrne of Wykoff, and Maureen (Paul) Bourner of Defiance, Mo.; 22 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn (Scott) Snell of Chatfield; and sister-in-law Ginger Winslow of Wykoff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O’Byrne Jr.; brother Wayne Winslow, sister Carol Ann Wangen, brother-in-law Laverne Wangen, and her parents.
Memorials preferred to the Fillmore Free Methodist Church.
A funeral service for Jeri was held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016 at Fillmore Free Methodist Church, 19127 Co Hwy 8, Wykoff, Minn., with Pastor Michael Hopper officiating. Visitation was from 9-10:50 a.m. at the church on Monday.
