Fillmore County Journal, Gary Boelter obituary

Funeral services for Gary E. Boelter will be held 10:30 Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, with Rev. Mark VanHouse officiating. Burial will take place in St Ignatius Cemetery, Spring Valley. Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Tuesday February 20, 2018, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Gary E. Boelter age 78, of Spring Valley, died Friday February 16, 2018, at Grand Meadow Healthcare Center in Grand Meadow.

Gary was born November 14, 1939, in Rochester, Minn., to Mansfield and Mary Ann (Vicker) Boelter. He attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Byron High School in 1958.  In November of 1960 Gary entered the United States Army, serving two years in Germany and then entered the Reserve until 1966. Following his discharge Gary returned home.  On June 17, 1967, he was united in marriage to Lois Capelle at St Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley. Together they lived for a short time in Rochester before purchasing a farm near Spring Valley. Gary worked for Waters Instruments for 49 years retiring in February of 2008. He enjoyed fishing, working on old cars (especially his 1964 ½ Mustang) and going for rides on his Ranger. He also enjoyed NASCAR, gardening and having his children and grandchildren visit. Gary was a member of the Spring Valley American Legion and a member of an antique car club where he enjoyed going on afternoon drives. He enjoyed watching football and especially enjoyed going dancing with his wife, Lois.

Gary is survived by his wife Lois, of Spring Valley, his children: Brett (Krista) Boelter of Zumbrota, Minn., Denise (Eric “Ric”) Root of St. Charles, Minn., and Lisa (Jason) Johnson of St Anthony, Minn.; eight grandchildren:  Kaylee Boelter, Ashlee Boelter, Lindsey Root, Tyler Root, Caden Boelter, Brekken Boelter, Linnea Johnson and Rhodes Johnson; two siblings: Dale (Sharon) Boelter of Rochester, Minn., and Terry (Vicky) Boelter of Byron, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Brian, grandson Carsten and brother Mark.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, the Spring Valley Food Shelf, or the donors choice.
