The Fountain City Council breezed through a two-minute meeting February 2. There were only two items for agenda consideration. The first item was the monthly consent agenda, consisting of last month’s meeting minutes, the treasurer’s report, and approval of monthly bills. All were approved in one motion and with no discussion. Councilor Colleen Fohrenbacher was absent from this meeting.
The second item was follow-up of items missed during the annual meeting held in January. All were approved with little to no discussion.
The council approved Fillmore County Journal and Fountain State Bank as official newspaper
and bank.
Contracts for City Attorneys Frederick Suhler and Brett Corson were renewed for 2022. Suhler will serve as attorney for the city’s civil issues while Corson will handle prosecution. There was no increase in the terms with Suhler’s contract, but a small increase in the other. Everything will be billed on a case by case basis.
Committee and personnel designations also remained the same for 2022. Councilors Dave Gudmundson and Ron Reisner will serve on Streets Committee, Gudmundson on Parks Committee, Reisner on Buildings Committee, and Mayor Jim Schott and Councilor Terry Hanson on Water and Sewer Committee. Councilor Colleen Foehrenbacher is again designated as the city inspector for noxious and invasive weed control.
The next regularly scheduled coucil meeting is Wednesday, March 2, at 7 p.m., at city hall. It is open to the public.
