In a week four matchup between teams tied for second in the South-East sub-district, run-dominant Lanesboro (2-1, 2-1) used the passing connection of Teague Tessum to Quadyn Kettner to get past Grand Meadow (2-1, 2-1). The Larks jumped out 14-0 early in the second quarter. Jackson Soltau threw a 19-yard TD pass to Cohen Craft in the first quarter (with Blake Hubbard conversion) and Logan Grafe recovered a fumble and returned it 59 yards to paydirt early in the second. Lanesboro answered with the first Tessum to Kettner TD-pass, a 35-yarder. At the half, visiting GM led 14-6. Burro Teagan Reinhardt then returned the opening kickoff 78 yards to paydirt. With a Henry Semmen conversion, the Burros tied the game at 14-14. But GM again took the lead late in the third on a 2-yard Blake Hubbard score. Soltau hit Grafe for the conversion leaving GM up eight, 22-14. But the Burros controlled the fourth. GM ran just four offensive plays. It took just three plays after the Larks went ahead for Tessum to hit Kettner on a 56-yard TD strike. The conversion failed, leaving the Larks up 22-20. But they then went three-and-out. James Semmen’s group marched 59 yards in nine plays. Tessum hit Kettner a third time (26-yard TD pass) with the fourth quarter ticking away. A conversion toss to Liam Miller made it 28-22 Burros. And on the ensuing kickoff, kicker Pablo Conde, a foreign exchange student, stripped the GM ball-carrier. Ben Norby recovered for the Burros. They picked up a trio of first downs to salt the game away for the 28-22 win on a field that was covered with flood waters days earlier. Tessum (5 of 11, 132 yards, 3 TDs INT, conversion) hit Kettner thrice (3-117, 3 TDs receiving) and all went for scores. Semmen (16-70, conversion rushing) led the Burro ground game. Lanesboro ran for 149 yards. They held GM to 30 yards rushing. Soltau (5 of 11, 130 yards, TD, conversion passing), Hubbard (3-88 receiving; TD, conversion rushing), and Craft (2-42, TD receiving) led the Larks. Lanesboro (3-1, 3-1), L-O/L/P (3-1, 3-1), and SG (3-1, 3-1) trail AC/G-E (4-0, 4-0) atop the South-East. GM falls to 2-2, 2-2.
