Football Playoffs – Section 1AA (10/24)

(Quarterfinal) 6-seed Winona-Cotter (1-7) 12, 3-seed Chatfield (6-2) 59 (C: K. Schott 11-133, 2 TDs rushing, 29-yard reception; Parker Delaney 4-7, 128 yards, 2 TDs passing; Carson Rowland 5-89, TD rushing, passing TD; Caden Boyum 12-yard TD reception, 27-yard interception return TD; Devin Reinhardt 12-yard TD reception; Ben Carrier 30-yard TD reception; Brayden Horsman 3-25, TD rushing; Cole Ramaker 9-32, TD rushing; Masyn Kreter 57-yard reception.  Gophers led 41-0 at halftime versus Mid-Southeast foe Cotter.  Chatfield (7-2) ran 47 offensive plays for 466 yards (9.9 yards per play).  This game was moved back a day due to lightening, and the 3-seed Gophers’ 1AA semifinal with 2-seed D-E (5-3) is October 30 versus October 28)

Chatfield defenders Carson Rowland (#5), Caden Boyum (#7), and Ethan Eickhoff (#27) work together to bring down Winona-Cotter’s Bobby Sandcork in the teams 1AA quarterfinal. The Gophers got the easy 59-12 win, but the game was moved back a day per lightening, and thus their semifinal game versus D-E was moved from Saturday the 28th to Monday the 30th.

Football Playoffs – Section 1A (10/24)

(Quarterfinal) 6-seed Rushford-Peterson (4-4) 0, 3-seed Kenyon-Wanamingo (6-2) 6 (R-P: Jonah Bunke 11-45 rushing, 11-yard reception.  KW: Dillon Bartel 20-114 rushing; Trent Voss 11-91, TD rushing.   K-W twice fumbled inside the 10-yard line in the first half (Evan Kammer, Sampson Wilkemeyer recoveries).  K-W’s Voss score the game’s only points on a 17-yard TD run in the final two minutes.  R-P subsequently threw an interception.  K-W out-gained R-P 249 to 54, as the Trojans were limited to three first downs.  Each team had two turnovers.   R-P’s season ends at 4-5)


Football Playoffs – 9-Man Section 1 (10/24)

(Quarterfinal) 5-seed Southland (4-4) 20, 4-seed Houston (4-4) 24 (H: Aden Kulas 23-114, TD rushing; Lee Klunder 12-60 rushing, 2-22 receiving; Zach Olson 6-39, 2 TDs rushing, 3-15 receiving, 1-1, 12 yards passing; Arik Melbo/Ethan Knutson 11 total tackles.   Houston led 24-14 after three quarters.  Southland scored late in the fourth to make it 24-20, but the Hurricanes recovered the onside and then were able to kneel out the clock.  Both teams scored three TDs, but Houston converted all three of its two-point runs while Southland converted once.  Southland out-gained Houston 298 to 264 including 151 to 42 through the air.  Former Hurricane Austin Swenson was Southland’s leading rusher (24-110, TD))

(Quarterfinal) 7-seed Grand Meadow (1-7) 20, 2-seed #8 LeRoy-Ostrander (7-1) 44 (L-O: C. Hungerholt 9-225, 3 TDs rushing, 8 of 11, 158 yards, 3 TDs passing; C. Sweeney 4-88, 3 TDs receiving; Logan Diemer 8-57 rushing, 3-46 receiving; Ryder Stern sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery; Spencer Goodale two fumble recoveries.  GM: C. Ludemann 30-210, 3 TDs rushing; Dalton Pischke 17-49 rushing.  L-O ran nine first half offensive plays yielding eight first downs, four TDs, and 267 yards.  GM ran 39 first half offensive plays yielding 186 yards, but had three turnovers.  L-O led 30-6 at halftime.  GM finishes at 1-8)

LeRoy-Ostrander’s Malyk Schaefer gets the tackle on Grand Meadow’s Dalton Pischke in the teams’ 9-Man Section 1 quarterfinal game. The Cardinals easily handled the Larks by 44-20 final. L-O ran nine first half offensive plays for eight first downs, four TDs, and 267 yards in stoking a 30-6 halftime lead.
