Chatfield’s Logan Pearson goes high for the pass defense in the Gophers season opening game with Rochester-Lourdes. Pearson had a key 74-yard TD reception, as Chatfield avenged a playoff loss to the Eagles a year ago by 24-7 final.

Chatfield racked up 187 rushing yards and 305 total yards while Rochester-Lourdes went for 124 rushing and 156 total, as the Gophers avenged a 2025 playoff semifinal upset by 24-7 final. Chatfield was depleted with injuries a year ago in the playoffs, but used their offensive line as a catalyst to top Lourdes at Rochester Regional Sports Stadium in a week one Southeast Yellow affair. Ross Stoehr kicked a 22-yard field goal with the clock reading 0:00 to send the Gophers to half up 10-7. Late in the third quarter, Carter Ask threw a perfect dime to a streaking Logan Pearson for a 72-yard TD strike, making the lead 17-7. The Gophers’ other two touchdowns were on the ground by junior Hunter Polikowsky, who topped the century mark rushing (23-109 yards). Pearson (4-85, TD receiving; 3-27 rushing) led Chatfield threw the air with Brooks Lea also notching a 33-yard reception. Ask, a senior, finished 4 of 5 for a nice 115 yards and the scoring strike to Pearson. Lourdes had just 31 passing yards. Eli Hust had the lone touchdown for the Eagles (in the first quarter), and he was their top yardage getter (6-56 rushing). The Eagles had just five first downs. Chatfield improved to 1-0 in the Yellow, 1-0 overall.
