For a fourth straight week, #3 in Class AA Chatfield was dominant. Jeff Johnson’s group posted a 43-0 shutout win over Triton on the road on a Thursday game. The Gophers scored 23 second quarter points to sport a 37-0 lead at halftime. For the third time this season, six different Gophers accounted for TDs. Kail Schott (23-185, 2 TDs rushing) led the way with his fourth 100-yard rushing effort in as many weeks. Parker Delaney (8-11, 128 yards, TD) and Carson Rowland (5-7, 74 yards, TD) threw for scores, the first to Cole Novotny (3-54, TD receiving), the later to Devin Reinhardt (5-89, TD receiving). Rowland (12-56, TD rushing) and Chase Johnston (5-36, TD rushing) added scores on the ground while D’Andre Williams (11-70 rushing) helped the Gophers run for 349 yards. They tallied 551 total yards one week after posting 502 versus St. Charles. The defense held the Cobras to 53 total yards including five rushing while posting a safety. The 53 yards was the Gophers best defensive effort this season. Chatfield’s offense is now averaging a whopping 460 yards per game including 325 yards on the ground. They have astonishingly put up more yards each week after starting with a high number 358 in the first contest. Schott (five), Rowland (five), Delaney (three), and Williams (three) all have at least three ground scores. Five different receivers have a least one TD reception (led by Reinhardt’s three). Delaney has thrown seven TDs while Rowland has tossed two. The defense has yielded just 100 yards per game including a ridiculous 18.7 yards rushing per game. Chatfield has out-scored foes 192-18. Courtesy of a 28-8 Caledonia win over #5 Cannon Falls, the #3 Gophers (3-0, 4-0) are tied with the #2 Warriors (3-0, 4-0) atop the Southeast-White standings.
