Football: #3 Chatfield Smacks Lancers for 2-0 Start

September 18, 2023 by Paul Trende

Chatfield (1-0) built a 19-0 first half lead on La Crescent/Hokah (0-1). After the Lancers scored to open the third quarter and cut the lead to 19-6, the Gophers scored 19 more unanswered points to close out the stanza. They posted their second convincing win in as many weeks. Unlike the past couple years, when it has been Backer-Backer-Backer, Chatfield used its depth of athlete to get scores and the “W.” Kail Schott (16-116 rushing) topped 100 yards rushing for the second straight week. Parker Delaney (3 of 6, 97 yards, TD, INT passing, two rushing TDs) accounted for three total scores. Carson Rowland (11-64 rushing, 33-yard pass) posted a pair of first half TD runs, D’Andre Williams (5-65 rushing) a pair of second half TD runs (23 and 36 yards). Caden Boyum caught a 44-yard TD pass. Ben Carrier added two receptions for 64 yards. Chatfield’s defense limited the Lancers to 31 yards on 38 carries, 142 yards total offense. The Gophers rolled up 432. The final was 45-6. Chatfield (2-0, 2-0) is ranked #3.

Chatfield’s Kail Schott runs hard through the tackle attempt of La Crescent/Hokah’s Drew Todd in the teams’ Southeast-White matchup. Schott posted his second 100-yard rushing out-put in as many games as the #3 in AA Gophers moved to 2-0 overall courtesy of a 45-6 victory.
