Football (10/13)

October 23, 2023 by Paul Trende

South-East Football (10/13)

Houston 36, Southland 6 (H: A. Kulas 37-159, 2 TDs rushing; Morgan Rohweder 5 of 7, 52 yards, TD passing; Lee Klunder 16-63 rushing; Axel Vix 3-40, TD receiving; Austin Groth 16-yard TD run; Zach Olson 4-11, TD rushing, 2-12 receiving.  Both teams played with key players hurt)

Grand Meadow 26, Lanesboro 22 (GM: C. Ludemann 33-209, 2 TDs rushing, 2 of 5, 24 yards, TD passing; Dalton Pischke 17-74, TD rushing, 5-yard TD reception.  L: Mason Howard 5-10, 133 yards, 3 TDs passing, 9-47 rushing; Cole Sass 56-yard TD reception; Kaden Stettler 3-34, 2 TDs receiving; Michael Rein 43-yard reception; Boston Wright 8-37 rushing.  GM only trailed 8-6 in the second quarter.  They led 20-8 in the third, only for Lanesboro to answer.  A Ludemann 20-yard TD in the fourth again made it a double-digit lead at 26-16.  Lanesboro answered to make it 26-22, but Larks then ran out the clock.  Lanesboro (1-5, 1-6) lost its fifth game by single digits)

Southeast-White Football (10/13)

Dover-Eyota 23, #7 in AA Chatfield 8 (C: Kail Schott 16-93 rushing; Carson Rowland 15-83, TD rushing, 5 of 14, 45 yards, INT passing.  D-E jumped to 17-0 halftime lead.  The teams had near equal total yards (Chatfield 230, D-E 220) but the Gophers had three turnovers, D-E zero on a wet night.  Gophers > 3-2, 5-2)

Chatfield’s Kail Schott and D-E’s Landon Lehnertz (poetically) wrestle for the ball as a host of Gophers flock to the play. After nearly upsetting #2 Caledonia in week five, the Eagles took down the #7 Gophers 23-8 in week seven, sending Chatfield to its second straight defeat.
