Memorial services for Florence Evelyn Jones, 101, who died on July 28, 2025, formerly of rural Harmony, Minn., will be held Saturday, September 20, at 11 a.m. in the Lime Springs Community Center, Lime Springs, Iowa, with Pastor Jeff Jacobs officiating.

Florence Evelyn Jones was born on October 5, 1923, in the home of her parents, Thomas and Florence (Jones) Price, in Lime Springs, Iowa. She graduated from the Lime Springs Public School in 1941. She attended Iowa State Teacher College (UNI) but did not return for her sophomore year as she became ill during the latter part of her freshman year. Thereupon, she enrolled and completed a business course at the Minneapolis School of Business and became an employee of Sherwin-Williams in Minneapolis.

On November 7, 1943, she married her high school sweetheart, William J. Jones, who had recently entered in the service of the U.S. Navy, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lime Springs. Following her husband’s duty of service, they briefly lived in Bill’s Grandmother’s home in Lime Springs before moving in 1945 to York Township, Minn., where she continued to reside until October 2017, at which time she established residence at The Waters on Mayowood in Rochester, Minn. In November 2022, she became a resident of Zumbrota Care Center in Zumbrota, Minn., until her death. She was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lime Springs, which dissolved in 1993. As she wintered in Sun City, Ariz., for over 25 years after Bill’s death in 1989, she became an associate member of First Presbyterian Church of Sun City.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Raymond) Bigalk, Harmony, Minn., and two sons, Byron (Annabella) of Naalehu, Hawaii, and William Kevin of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; three grandsons: Thomas and Hugh Bigalk and Nathan Jones, two great-grandsons, Jacob and Curtis Bigalk; two nieces, Jane Ann (Jens) Kallevang and Anita (Kip) Skaden; and one nephew, John (Alice) Price. In addition, Evelyn was blessed with step-great-grandchildren/great-great children of Thomas and Karry Bigalk and Hugh and Tina Bigalk. Also, she enjoyed a special relationship with Bill’s four nieces and nephew.

Preceding her death were her husband William J., her parents, a sister, Mabel Hunnicutt; two brothers, Edwin and Tudor Price; two sisters-in-law, Edythe Price and Eunice Price Kyseth; niece JoAnne Neal, and nephew Jeffrey Jones.

A private inurnment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs. Memorials may be directed to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association and St. Croix Hospice.
