On October 30, Daurice William Meyer, 27, of Red Wing, appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter. Meyer is charged with three felony counts of Domestic Assault; Inflicts or Attempts to Inflict Bodily Harm, Commits Act with Intent to Cause Fear, and by Strangulation. The first two counts carry maximum criminal penalties of five years in prison and/or $10,000 fines while the strangulation offense carries a maximum criminal penalty of three years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine. On or about September 19, a Fillmore County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched regarding alleged domestic abuse that occurred from August 2023 thru November 2023. A victim reported that she had been allegedly abused (including strangled) by the defendant and that she had not reported it earlier per the defendant preventing it. The victim allegedly had photos of the assaults. A witness allegedly corroborated the victim and defendant had physical altercations. The defendant is currently incarcerated for Felony Domestic Assault (in Goodhue County) and has multiple prior domestic violence-related convictions within the past 10 years.
On October 28, Ross Charles Anderson, 30, of Lewiston, appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter. Anderson is charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct – Fourth Degree – Contact – Victim Mentally Impaired/Physically Helpless (Victim 1), a felony with a maximum criminal penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine. On or about July 21, the Rushford Police Chief was approached by a woman regarding her daughter and a sexual assault. The victim alleged Anderson had sexual contact with her while she was asleep after a party (following Rushford Days). A second victim also alleged the defendant inappropriately touched her at the same party while she was sleeping. The first victim admitted to drinking while the second had not been. The defendant allegedly admitted to being heavily intoxicated and not remembering the incident while denying interaction took place.
On October 16, Dontae Lament Hampton, 49, of Benton Harbor, Mich., appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter. Hampton is charged with Second Degree Assault – Dangerous Weapon a felony with a maximum criminal penalty seven years in prison and/or a $14,000 fine. On or about October 14, a Chatfield police deputy was dispatched regarding a domestic dispute. Amidst a dispute between apartment neighbors, the defendant allegedly stabbed a victim.
