On May 29, Troy Alan Bothun, 39, of Decorah, Iowa, appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter.  Bothun is charged with Drugs – Fifth Degree – Possess Schedule 1,2,3,4 or Paraphernalia Residual – Not Cannabis/Hemp.  It is a felony with a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.  On or about May 27, a Minnesota State Trooper conducted a traffic stop for alleged usage of a cell phone while driving.   Bothun was allegedly under the influence of drugs and a total of 2.1 grams of a white crystal-like substance (methamphetamine) were allegedly found on his person and in his car.   The defendant has a previous First-Degree Drug and a Fourth Degree DWI – Controlled Substance conviction each in Fillmore County. 

On June 6, Jason L.C. Taylor, 52 of Minneapolis, appeared before District Court Judge Debra A. Groehler.   Taylor is charged with six felonies; two counts of Possess Ammo/Any Firearm – Conviction or Adjudicated Delinquent for Crime of Violence, Felon Convicted Crime of Violence – Firearm Violation, Felon Convicted Crime of Violence – Ammunition Violation, Assault – Second Degree – Dangerous Weapon, and Threats of Violence.  The first four violations all carry maximum criminal penalties of 15 years in prison and/or $30,000 fines.  The Dangerous Weapon count carries a maximum criminal penalty of seven years in prison and/or a $14,000 fine, the Threats of Violence count a penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.  On or about June 4, a Fillmore County Sheriff’s sergeant and deputy were dispatched to a residence in Mabel for a domestic dispute.  The defendant allegedly threatened family members with a knife and a gun.  The defendant is not allowed to possess a gun or ammunition per a previous felony conviction for Aggravated Robbery – Aid and Abet in Hennepin County from 1991. 

On June 13, Taylor Evan Buel, 34, of Rushford, appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter.  Buel is charged with Assault – Fourth Degree – Peace Officer – Demonstrable Bodily Harm, a felony with a maximum criminal penalty of three years in prison and/or a $6,000 fine.  On or about June 11, a Minnesota State Trooper conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle with expired registration.  The defendant was allegedly under the influence of a substance other than alcohol.  When the officer informed the defendant he was taking him for a Drug Recognition Evaluation, Buel allegedly punched the officer in the chin resulting in noticeable damage.

On June 17, Donald George Rockvam Jr., 55 of Chatfield, appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter.  Rockvam is charged with Domestic Assault – By Strangulation, a felony with a maximum criminal penalty of three years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine.  On or about June 15, a Chatfield police officer was dispatched to meet a female regarding a domestic incident.  The victim allegedly was assaulted by the defendant including by strangulation.   The defendant allegedly admitted to doing so. 

On June 18, Isaac James Crawford, 32, of Canton, appeared before District Court Judge Jeremy Clinefelter.  Crawford is charged three felonies; Domestic Assault – Felony – Inflicts or Attempts to Inflict Bodily Harm, Domestic Assault – Felony – Commits Act With Intent to Cause Fear, and Domestic Assault – By Strangulation.  The first two counts carry maximum criminal penalties of five years and prison and/or $10,000 fines while the last carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine.  On or about June 16, a Fillmore County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a domestic disturbance in rural Mabel.   Crawford allegedly went after a victim including grabbing by the throat.  Crawford has previous convictions for misdemeanor DANCO. Violation and for misdemeanor Domestic Assault, both in Fillmore County.
