Fillmore County District Court

June 21, 2021 by Fillmore County Journal

On May 28, Brandon Brian Houghtelin and Terra Jean Bothun, both 27 and both of Chatfield, appeared before District Court Judge Carmaine Sturino.  Houghtelin is charged with Drugs – Store Meth in the Presence of Child or Vulnerable Adult.  Bothun is charged with Drugs – Store Methamphetamine in the Presence of Child or Vulnerable Adult and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Each are felonies with a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.  On or about May 27, a warrant was executed at a residence in Chatfield in search of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.  A narcotics investigator allegedly discovered a glass baking dish with a measurable amount of suspected methamphetamine, and a flat, square shaped piece of glass that had two lines of suspected methamphetamine.  Other drug paraphernalia including glass pipes and small plastic baggies, consistently used to smoke and store meth, and plastic tubing (which had a white crystalline substance) were also allegedly found in the residence.  Two children, ages three and one, also live in the dwelling, and the drugs were easily accessible to either.  Bothun has two prior convictions for felony 5th Degree Possession of Controlled Substance.

On June 1, Emrah Dautbegovic, 23 of Blaine, appeared before District Court Judge Matthew J. Opat.  Dautbegovic is charged with Terroristic Threats – Reckless Disregard Risk, a felony with a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.  On May 30, a Preston Police officer was dispatched regarding an allegedly impaired person parking their vehicle on the Fillmore Central Middle School’s grass.   The suspected vehicle was found driving the streets of Preston, breaking traffic laws.  Another party (not Emrah Dautbegovic) was the driver, and said party allegedly failed a field sobriety test.  The driver allegedly resisted arrest for failure of said tests.  The defendant was also unruly during the arrest, including telling an officer, “Do you feel a gun going to your head?” and “I’m going to kill you!”  The defendant (Emrah Dautbegovic) was allegedly over the legal limit for alcohol.
