Fillmore County District Court

May 17, 2021 by Fillmore County Journal

On May 6, Matthew Robert Moore, 36 of Wykoff, appeared before District Court Judge Matthew J. Opat.  Moore is charged with two counts of Receiving Stolen Property.   Each is a felony that carries a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both.  On or about May 5, a sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Fillmore regarding a 1999 black enclosed trailer allegedly reported as stolen out of Winona County.  The defendant was allegedly found in an adjacent camper.  Moore allegedly state he had purchased the black trailer on Facebook Marketplace from a “Brandon,” but he had no evidence of the transaction (text messages) because his phone (from that time) had been broken.  A second trailer was also allegedly nearby with a permanent registration to another party, initials “K.C.”  Moore alleged to buying it from an “R.F.” Officers were allegedly advised that the second smaller trailer was just brought to the property in the last couple of days.  The true owners of both trailers were contacted and each retrieved their vehicles, the first valued at around $3,200, the second around $1,500.  The second trailer was also allegedly stolen from a trailer park in Marion.
