Fillmore County District Court

June 29, 2020 by Fillmore County Journal

Fillmore County Journal

On April 29, Lyndon Del Arnold, 18 of Harmony, appeared before District Court Judge Matthew J. Opat.  Arnold is charged with Third Degree Assault – Substantial Bodily Harm, and Domestic Assault – By Strangulation.  Each are felonies.  The first carries a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine, the second three years in prison and/or a $5,000 fine.  On or about August 27, 2020, within the city of Preston, an officer was dispatched to a possible domestic disturbance.  Arnold had allegedly grabbed a girlfriend around the neck (holding for roughly 30 seconds) and allegedly hit her multiple times in the face.  The victim was later diagnosed with an orbital bone fracture.  Prior acts of domestic abuse may, or appear to, have occurred in the past regarding the defendant to the victim (Minnesota Statute 634.20).

On June 15, Tyler Glenn Aarsvold, 34 of Ostrander, appeared before District Court Judge Matthew J. Opat.  Aarsvold is charged with Damage to Property – 1st Degree – Value Reduced Over $1,000, a felony with a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.  On or about May 14, a Fillmore County Sheriff’s Lieutenant was informed that someone allegedly drove around barricades and construction equipment, then through fresh concrete on County Road 1 north of Ostrander.  Roughly 6,000 feet recently had been laid, and someone allegedly drove over ‘most of it.’  On May 18, a Fillmore County Sheriff’s sergeant was anonymously informed that the defendant was the alleged culprit, that Aarsvold had changed the tires and rims on his pick-up recently from ‘fancy’ to ‘stock’.  Other evidence collected by deputies supported the ‘tire/rim changing’ claim including a picture of the ‘fancy’ tires (on the truck) that appeared to match the tread marking in the cement.  Upon meeting with Aarsvold, the defendant allegedly admitted he ‘went out on the wet concrete and didn’t know it was wet’ that he entered ‘from a field and was unaware the concrete was not fully set.’  Initial damage to the highway was estimated at $71,020.  The exact amount is subject to change (when repairs are done).
