On December 3, Mark Allen Peitzmeier, 45, of Mabel, appeared before District Court Judge Nancy L. Buytendorp. Peitzmeier is charged with three Burglary felonies; First Degree – Dwelling – Occupied – Non-Accomplice Present, Second Degree – Dwelling – Attempted, and Third Degree – Enters Without Consent with Intent to Steal/Commit Felony or Gross Misdemeanor. The first offense carries a maximum criminal penalty of 10 years in prison and/or a $17,500 fine. The second two offenses carry maximum criminal penalties of five years in prison and/or $10,000 fines. On or about December 2, a Fillmore County Sheriff’s Department sergeant was dispatched to a residence in Mabel regarding a man allegedly being in the reporting party’s garage. The defendant allegedly opened a neighbor’s garage door and entered while also attempting to open a locked door to the house, all without consent.
On December 5, Shawn Gene Johnson, 32, of Chatfield, appeared before District Court Judge Nancy L. Buytendorp. Johnson in charged with two felony Domestic Assaults – Commits Act with Intent to Cause Fear of Death and Inflicts or Attempt to Inflict Bodily Harm. Each carry maximum criminal penalties of five years in prison and/or $10,000 fines. On or about December 4, two Preston police officers were dispatched to a residence regarding a domestic assault. The defendant allegedly assaulted his significant other, who had identifiable marks of injury on their body. Johnson allegedly stated he was assaulted, but also admitted to holding (bear hug) the alleged victim. Johnson has prior convictions for felony DANCO violations in 2021 and 2020.
On December 8, Michael Robert Oslund Jr., 36, of Preston, appeared before District Judge Jeremy C. Clinefelter. Oslund is charged with four counts of Possess Pornographic Work; Minor Under 14. All four counts carry maximum criminal penalties of 10 years in prison and/or $10,000 fines. In April of 2025, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension became aware of multiple Cybertips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding several different platforms relating to the same suspect user in Fillmore County. The defendant Oslund allegedly used multiple IP address and social media platforms on Kik and Google for the possession and dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse/Exploitation Material (CSAM). Between August of 2024 and February of 2025, the Oslund-linked platforms allegedly had 71 reported files that were exploitive of minors, 43 files verified as unique CSAM files depicting minors approximately 3 to 9 years old. Upon executing a search warrant of Osland’s residence, he admitted to possessing child sexual abuse materials.
