According to Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge, on December 21, 2023, at approximately 9:29 p.m., a 911 caller reported a single vehicle crash on Fillmore County Road 4 near the intersection of Fillmore County Road 38 in Sumner Township. Fillmore County deputies responded to the scene and found the driver and sole occupant, 27-year-old Jessica Nicole Aspenwall of Wykoff, Minn., deceased at the scene.
The preliminary results of the investigation indicate that the 1998 Chevrolet pickup was traveling west on County Road 4 when it left the roadway and crashed. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing by Fillmore County deputies, with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol.
Assisting on scene were the Wykoff First Responders, Wykoff Fire Department, Spring Valley Ambulance, Chatfield Ambulance, Chatfield Fire Department, Minnesota State Patrol, and the Chatfield Police Department.
