Esther Sylvia Nepstad

Fillmore County Journal, Esther Nepstad obituary

Esther Sylvia Nepstad was born March 7, 1923, in Pilot Mound Township, to Ole and Clara Quarstad. She died March 3, 2018. She was baptized and confirmed at Pilot Mound Lutheran Church.  Esther attended country school through the eighth grade, at which time her mother died and she stayed at home to help on the farm. Esther married Arden Nepstad June 29, 1952, at the Pilot Mound Church.  They farmed outside of Lanesboro until 1959 when they moved into Lanesboro. Esther worked at the Lanesboro Hospital, Thoen’s Hotel and did housecleaning for several years.  She was a long time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, where Arden and Esther were custodians for 20 years, before retiring in 1995.  Esther moved to Park Lane Estates December of 2013.

She is survived by her son, Richard (Jennifer) Nepstad, and grandchildren Andrew (Meghan Johnston) and Megan (Michael)Fox.  Esther is also survived by great-grandchildren Kai Fox and Ava Fox. She was preceded in death by her  husband, Arden and her parents Ole and Clara Quarstad, sister Hazel Rain, brothers Arthur, Clarence and Harold Quarstad.

Esther’s memorial service will be 11 a.m. March 9, 2018, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro, with Pastor Kerry Eversole officiating.  Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.  Burial will be in Lanesboro Cemetery.
