Fillmore County Journal - Douglas Bergan Obituary

Douglas A. “Doug” Bergan, 69, of rural Lanesboro, Minn., died on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Savant Lake, Ontario, Canada, while on a fishing trip.

Douglas Allen Bergan was born on October 15, 1948, in Austin, Minn., to Curtis and Dorothy (Enfield) Bergan. He was raised in rural LeRoy, Minn., and was a 1966 graduate of LeRoy – Ostrander High School. On March 4, 1967, he was united in marriage with Linda Harrington at the Marshall Lutheran Church in Adams, Minn. Doug received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Mankato State University. He farmed for several years in the LeRoy area until moving to rural Lanesboro in 1986, where he also farmed. In addition to farming he also worked for Plunkett’s Pest Control for 25 years. Doug’s passions included horses, cattle, western collectibles, and everything involving his grandchildren.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy of LeRoy, Minn.; two children: Brett (Brenda) Bergan, and Sarah (Gary) Brown, both of Peterson, Minn.; grandchildren: Jessica (Tom) Thompson, Jordan and Jackson Bergan, Jerad (Megan) Brown and Josh Brown; two great-grandchildren: Jaycee and Lincoln; one sister, Diane Lukavsky; one sister-in-law, Sharon; and by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Curtis, wife Linda, and brother, Stan.

There will be a funeral service for Doug at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church in Peterson, Minn., with The Reverend Sarah Brown officiating. Burial will be in the East Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Peterson. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Rushford and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

The family prefers memorials directed to Grace Lutheran Sunday School.
