Diane B. Wendt, 79, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, Minn.
Diane Beverly (Hongerholt) Wendt was born on April 1, 1944, in Lanesboro, Minn. to parents Henry and Clara (Hanson) Hongerholt. On December 1, 1962, she married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Wendt, at First Highland Lutheran Church in Highland, Minn. Diane and Dick then moved to Rochester before having their two children, Kevin and Michael. Diane spent several years as a homemaker, and later earned her CNA license and went to work at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital as a certified nursing assistant for 27 years.
Diane enjoyed traveling; some of her favorite trips being Turkey, Greece, Ireland and Israel. She also liked spending time in Monday quilt group and attending Bible study, both at Redeemer Lutheran Church and at Chosen Valley Care Center.
Diane is survived by her son Kevin (Giesela) Wendt of Preston, Minn.; three grandchildren: Lucas Wendt (fiancé Karin) of Burnsville, Minn., Zachary Wendt of Lynchburg, Va., and Annie Wendt; sister Bonnie Fossum of Harmony, Minn., and brother Henry Hongerholt Jr. of Bagley, Minn.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dick, her son Michael, her parents Henry and Clara; two sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 869 7th Ave SE Rochester, MN 55904. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Big Spring Cemetery in Harmony, Minn.
