David Floyd Lecy

March 18, 2025 by Fillmore County Journal

David Levy obituary, Fillmore County Journal

David Floyd Lecy was born on April 15, 1962, in Rochester, Minn., to Floyd and Geraldine (Gerry) Lecy. Following their divorce, Floyd remarried Linda Lecy, and Geraldine remarried Ed Buchanan. Dave was first married to Karen Long, with whom he had two children before their marriage ended in divorce. In 1987, he found his soulmate, Paula Johnson, and they built a wonderful family together with their five children: Michael, Micky, Dustin, Timothy and Jennifer. Dave’s greatest joys in life included camping, trucking, and cherishing weekends surrounded by friends and family. During his trucking days, Dave spent much of his time on the phone with his best friend and brother, Tony Lecy, and his dear friend Jim Horsman. Prior to GPS, and even recently, Dave was everyone’s go-to for directions if they got lost.

He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren who already miss him dearly. Dave is lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 38 years, Paula (Johnson) Lecy, and his five children: Mike (Michelle) Lecy, Micky (Tony) Mincks, Dustin (Sarah) Johnson, and Tim Lecy, all residing in Spring Valley, Minn.; and Jennifer (James) Ziemer of Eyota, Minn.; his father Ed Buchanan, stepmother Linda Lecy, and father-in-law Dale Johnson. His legacy lives on through his 12 grandchildren: Brooke, Isabelle, Dakarai and Amari Lecy; Greyson and Asher Mincks; Daizie Johnson, Bailie Nagel, Madison and Gage Lecy, Owen Lecy and Zander Ziemer; Dave’s siblings Penny Nolta (Steve Thompson), Tony (Tammy) Lecy, Troy (Amy) Buchanan, Deanna (Tim) Kurth, Delon (Sheila) Lecy, Dirk (Amber) Lecy and Darla (Dan) Wendt; many nieces and nephews, and his best four-legged friend, Buddy.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents Floyd Lecy and Gerry Buchanan, his sister Jenny May Lecy, paternal/maternal grandparents, and mother-in-law Marcene (Mick) Johnson.

Visitation will be held 4–8 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Hindt Funeral Home in Spring Valley. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be left at www.Hindtfuneralhomes.com.
