Area teams LARPH, Chatfield, GMLOS and LFC all had strong showings on one level or another as they took on the St. Charles cross country invite. The LARPH boys continued their strong season, grabbing their third team title of the year (35) handily over GMLOS (107), Chatfield (110), St. Charles (113), Stewartville (124), and LFC (128) sixth. La Crescent/Hokah (134) and PEM (141) also competed, as it was a very competitive team run save for the champs. Matt Kingsbury’s group spackled the top 17 with seven runners. The next best teams (Stewartville, GMLOS, St. Charles) each had two in the top 17. Ryan Prinsen (17:46.66) headed the group, taking third overall behind individual champion Josh Langseth (17:09.92) of Stewartville and Ivan Daood (17:35.68) of St. Charles. But Aaron Ploetz took fourth (17:57.73). Brennan Kunst (18:03.02) and Isaac Rasmussen (18:16.46) took sixth and ninth to also make the top 10. Ploetz and Kunst each equaled their highest finishes this year. Tyler Betthauser (18:32.71), Matthew Sprague (18:54.05), and Hunter Rislov (19:05.06) took 13th, 16th, and 17th places for LARPH’s big seven. Cracking the top 25 for second place GMLOS were Carter Glynn (7th > 18:06.51), Erik Shaw (14th > 18:44.13), and Teague Alden (21st > 19:36.53). LFC’s Isaac Snyder (8th > 18:15.37) cracked the top 10. Third place Chatfield had four in the top 25, all in the 18 to 25 range; Maddex Lanning (18th > 19:05.57), Aiden Johnsrud (19th > 19:16.30), Alden Pearson (23rd > 19:43.14), and Grayson Fister (25th > 19:52.57). Sixty guys competed at 5,000-meter span ran around St. Charles Golf Course. On the girls side, Chatfield’s Lexi Kivimagi grabbed her first race win of the year (20:24.53), overtaking St. Charles’ Mya Slavin (20:33.81) the last half-mile or so. Kivimagi, just a frosh, has made the top five in all five races she has ran this year. LFC’s Autumn Rakosnik (20:45.36) took third, notching her third top three finish in as many varsity races. Chatfield’s Charlotte Oeltjen took fifth (21:14.61). The junior has amassed four straight top 10 finishes. An emerging LFC team had six in the top 25. Lillyan Kiehne (9th place > 21:44.5), Eliza Cullen (12th > 22:35.22), Grace Kingsley (14th > 23:06.59), Charity Kingsley (18th > 23:25.32), and Klaudia Biel (24th > 24:41.23) joined Rakosnik. Kiehne notched her fifth straight top 10 finish. The Gophers had four in the top 16, as Marianna Miron (15th > 23:11.23) and Arianna Dornink (16th > 23:14.16) joined Kivimagi and Oeltjen. GMLOS’ top runner was Naomi Warmka (19th > 23:50.47). LARPH’s top runner was Caitlin Bauer (22nd > 23:58.41). Fifty gals competed. Stewartville (49) had four in the top 11 to nip LFC (52) for the team title with Chatfield (63) taking third. LARPH (131) took fifth and GMLOS (167) sixth of six complete teams.
