Cindy Lou Beck, 60, of Michigan City, Ind., passed away Monday, January 24, 2022, at 10:06 a.m., in her home.
Cindy was born December 19, 1961, in Rochester, Minn., to the late Glenn and Marcella (Vrieze) Shipton. She attended and graduated from Wykoff High School and went on to graduate from Spencer School of Business, Spencer, Iowa. In Porter, Ind., she married Louis Beck, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Gracie (Ben Janatik) Beck of Michigan City, Ind., and Greta (Caleb Crawford) Beck of Westville, Ind.; stepdaughter Alexandria (Matthew) Franks of Ohio; two grandchildren, Payton Franks and Christopher Franks; sister Susan Shipton of Preston, Minn., two brothers, Robert Shipton of Spring Valley, Minn., and Eric Shipton of Preston, Minn., and several nieces and nephews.
Cindy was the co-owner at Gene’s Septic Service. Cindy loved raising her daughters and was very active in T-ball and volleyball, even coaching elementary volleyball. She attended every game and was a huge supporter of the high school volleyball teams where her daughters played. She loved baking, cooking, canning, making wine, bowling, and helping Louie in the garden. Cindy enjoyed walking and hiking and really liked hiking in the Indiana Dunes State Park with friends and Louie.
In her lifetime, she worked as a waitress, a cook, in a retail store and in an office, she ran the business with Louie, and was always there for her daughters and grandchildren.
Cindy had a zest for life and loved being with friends and family. She so enjoyed coming home to Minnesota to spend time with family on the farm with cookouts and sitting around the fire, telling and listening to stories.
There will be a celebration of life for Cindy at the Wykoff Community Center on May 7, 2022, from 2-5 p.m., with a eulogy at 2:30.
