Spring Valley Area Foundation and the Spring Valley Economic Development Authority announce Child Care Micro-Grant for in-home providers.
Spring Valley area child care providers now have a new resource to help them grow! The Spring Valley Economic Development Authority (EDA), with support from the Spring Valley Area Foundation (SVAF), and the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) Relief Fund have joined forces to create a Child Care Micro-Grant for in-home providers in the Spring Valley area.
Wendy Thon, President of the Spring Valley Area Foundation, states that, “We are proud to be able to support many organizations during this pandemic through the generous support of our donors. Providing resources to our early childhood programming and educational opportunities to in-home child care providers is a necessity, and we are happy to provide support in this essential work for our community.”
The Child Care Micro-Grant was developed in a collaborative effort between the Spring Valley EDA, the SVAF and the SMIF Relief Fund in response to the impact of COVID-19. The Child Care Micro-Grant is for in-home child care providers in the Spring Valley area wanting to invest in early childhood development program curriculum and supporting activities at their facility. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-serve basis. The maximum award could be as much as $3,000, with multiple smaller grants potentially being awarded depending on the number and quality of applications received.
“2020 has been an extremely challenging year for our businesses,” said Chris Hahn, Spring Valley Economic Development Director. “While some of our child care providers have received grant funding in the past, there clearly is a need for additional funding. The EDA strongly believes that quality, accessible child care is an essential part of our growing community. An investment in these types of businesses represents a long-term investment in Spring Valley.”
