Boys Basketball: Battling Warriors Fall Just Short Versus #2 Wildcats in 1AA Final

March 23, 2026 by Paul Trende Leave a Comment

Caledonia boys basketball is the Section 1AA runner-up. Coming from the 6-seed, the Warriors strong post-season run included battling past 3-seed Cannon Falls, and 2-seed Zumbrota-Mazeppa before falling to #2 in Class AA and top-seed Goodhue 76-71 in a fiercely contested battle. Photo by Paul Trende

Goodhue standout sophomore Max Loos walked off the court at halftime shaking his head. It could’ve been several things. But his concerns probably lie at least some with the opponent his #2 in Class AA Goodhue Wildcats (1-seed, 28-1) faced in the Section 1AA final. Caledonia (6-seed, 18-10) was not supposed to be there. By seed, they were not supposed to win even a quarterfinal … [Read more...]

Boys Basketball: Tradition and Lineage Lead Warriors Back to 1AA Finals Caledonia boys basketball graduated a spectacular class last year, one that took the Warriors all the way to the state semifinals. After a year up ups and downs, with some good wins and some tough losses, a new group of Warriors, returning just one starter from last year, has again made the Section 1AA … [Read more...]

Girls Basketball: Warriors Fall in  1AA Semis  Caledonia girls’ basketball (3-seed, 21-6) began the play-offs hoping to reach another 1AA title game. But an injury and a tough section doomed said efforts. The Warriors easily handled Cotter/Hope Lutheran (5-seed, 16-10) in the 1AA quarters, 70-51. It was Cal’s third win over the Ramblers this year. The Warriors led from start … [Read more...]

FCLMC senior Kane Larson uses his long arm to reach for the leg of Royalton/Upsala’s Jake Leners in a state title match at 189-pounds. Larson romped to the state title, winning his six post-season bouts by a combined 102-17 tally to become the Wolves’ first two-time state champion. Photo by Paul Trende

State Wrestling: Larson Becomes Only Two-Time FCLMC State Champion It was easy, at least by match scores. Starting with the section tourney, FCLMC senior Kane Larson was barely tested in the post-season. The total scores of his six matches: 102 to 17. He went 6-0 with five tech falls and an 11-4 decision (where he led 11-2 after two periods). Last year’s 172-pound titlist, … [Read more...]
