Caledonia’s Long-Anticipated Warrior Avenue on the Road to Becoming a Reality

City Clerk/Administrator Jake Dickson announced at the Caledonia City Council meeting on February 12 that the city submitted three applications for road funding for Warrior Avenue and the planned roundabout at the intersection of Highway 76 and 44. Kingsland’s three-win week included two nailbiters. The Knights first handled Grand Meadow 80-26. Jayden Brink (26 pts, 6-15 threes, 6 rebs, 4 asts) and Max Erdman (18 pts, 7-9 FGs, 6 rebs) did work. Elijah Solum hit all 12 shots from the field and all of his five free throws while amassing a career-high 33 points, one fewer than the Houston team during Spring Grove’s 82-34 road win. For the second straight game, Kinley Soiney had a double-double and the Spring Grove girls won a game in which they trailed at halftime. The Lions returned from Jackson Junction, Iowa, at 15-2 after a 48-40 win over Turkey Valley (6-10). The Spring Grove girls wrapped a three-game, three-win week with a 62-46 home win while completing a season sweep of Lanesboro. The Burros (8-8, 5-3 SEC) trailed by three at halftime (28-25) and only 44-42 until turnovers helped the Lions roar away with an 18-to-2 run.
