M-C 2023-24 budget approved

Fillmore County Journal- Mabel-Canton reviews distance learning

The Mabel-Canton School Board unanimously approved the 2023-24 preliminary budget at the June 20 meeting.  The projected 2023-24 enrollment is a total of 274 students  (250 Minnesota residents, and 24 Iowa residents), down four Decorah students. Lanesboro School Board hears update on potential HVED building purchase

Board Chair Christine Troendle, who is the board representative to HVED (Hiawatha Valley Education District), reported to the Lanesboro School Board at their regular meeting June 14 that HVED was moving forward to purchase the entire former Winona Mall in Winona. Baseball: Gophers Win Three More Playoff Games, Take Third in 1AA

Chatfield baseball won three elimination playoff games the second week of the post-season, but came up one win short of the 1AA title game. Brian Baum’s group (5-seed, 16-6) first took on PEM (8-seed, 8-12) at Rochester’s Hudson Field. Like the first two meetings, Chatfield came out on top, and more decisively. Falcons Push to 1A Third Place Finish

It has now happened twice in the ‘‘Journal Sports’’ era; one school has sent both of its golf teams to state in the same season. Repeating 2015, Fillmore Central’s golf teams are state-bound.
