Two teams at different stages of their development each captured titles at LARPH’s second cross country invite of the year, this time at Lewiston’s Heartland Golf Course. Earning their first team win at a big event in a long time (probably since the state seasons of 2015 and 2016) were Ellen Cullen’s LFC girls. The Burros have recently moved up a couple young runners in phenom Autumn Rakosnik and capable Eliza Cullen. LFC is now an emerging team. The Burros (38) easily topped La Cresecent/Hokah (83) and Austin-Pacelli (94). LARPH (121) took fifth, Kingsland (159) seventh, and GMLOS (191) eighth (of nine complete). The 8th grader Rakosnik paced the field (20:01.8) for her third individual title in four races. She topped Lourdes’ Anna Peikert (20:08.1) and St. Charles’ Mya Slavin (20:29.7). Steady LFC running veteran Lillyan Kiehne took fifth (21:24.5) while Cullen (22:26.2), Charity Kingsley (22:36.2) and Grace Kingsley (22:44.8) finished 11th thru 13th to give the team five in the top 13. Klaudia Biel (24:00.1) took 22nd to give LFC six in the top 25 (of 67 total runners). Lauren Honken (22:11) took ninth to pace LARPH. Teammates Caitlyn Bauer (23:51.1) and Vada Larson (24:02.8) took 21st and 23rd. Kingsland’s Kylie Meyer (14th > 23:00.60) and Kaylie Betts (18th > 23:34.2) made the top 20, as did GMLOS’ top runner Naomi Warmka (20th > 23:46.7). On the guys side, the LARPH boys continued their established strong running tradition by repeating as event champions handily (28) over second place GMLOS (73) and third place LFC (97). Senior Ryan Prinsen (17:16.9) captured his second title of the year over teammate Aaron Ploetz (2nd > 17:38.1), who posted his highest finish ever. GMLOS’ Carter Glynn took third (17:43.8). LFC’s Isaac Snyder (17:57) took fifth, his fourth top five. Of the top 23 runners, nine were from LARPH. Brennan Kunst (6th > 18:00.3), Tyler Betthauser (9th > 18:11.5), and Isaac Rasmussen (10th > 18:26.9) made the top 10 also. Hunter Rislov (18:37) took 11th, Treyton Heyland (18:45.2) 15th, and Matthew Sprague 17th (19:14.8) to make the top 20 while Dave Wallace (19:27.50) took 23rd. GMLOS had four in the top 25, as Erik Shaw (7th > 18:07.8), Teague Alden (18th > 19:16.6), and Brendon Arndorfer (22nd > 19:26.6) joined Glynn. LFC also had four in the top 25, as Riley Grant (16th > 19:11.9), Landon Sethre (24th > 19:45.6), and Jaxon Huntington (25th > 19:48.4) joined Snyder. Eighty guys competed at the 5,000-meter race.
